Description When I got on my bike at 6.15 this morning, I hoped for another sunrise like yesterdayΒ΄s. But when I arrived at the heath on the other side of Hilversum some 20 minutes from here, big clouds had filled the sky, and the sunrise remained a weak suggestion of what it might have been.

Was it a trip for nothing? Well, in any case I have had my exercise and fresh air for today. And perhaps this shot is not too bad either, even if it shows a sunrise that never really got into its full colour spectrum.

PS. The time given by the camera is summertime, as I was too lazy in October to change it. So the shot was taken at 6.46 am.

I love your colorful trees, but the shades of blue and the contrast of the moody clouds and the trees is truly daydream inspiring

Certainly not all for nothing.

This is a lovely shot. The heavy clouds brings a sense of foreboding, but there is still that thin glimmer of home poking through just above the horizon.

Very nice

The cloudy skies are so "moody" that you may be satisfied with this shot! Nice capture indeed!

So this isn't clouds with a silver lining, it's clouds with a rosy lining!

Yay for bicycles! You see so much more from them than from a car.

Yes, that is a lovely way of putting it! And indeed: bicycles are much better for photographers.

And artists: I have often found and seen things on my bicycle that I would have missed were I in a car, that have then inspired me to paint!

Not for nothing This shot is nice, it doesn't have to be always a clear sunrise

This is a superb shot Jurgen. The oranges and reds may even have detracted from it had they been there.

How do you carry your camera when bicycling?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jchanders In reply to bamako [2007-03-24 20:14:38 +0000 UTC]

Just on my back in the bag, or hanging round my neck with shortened strings, if you call them like that. I have one of those old-fashioned bikes where you sit pretty straight, so there is no danger of the camera banging against the steering bar (again I do not know the right term, I am afraid.).

I think you underestimate the effect of this beautiful shot, Juergen!

I see the silhouettes of the trees against a stormy sky and sense that a long cold night is on the way. (I know, I know, it's sunrise, but . . .)

I am very glad that so many of you all like this shot. You see, I was somewhat disappointed at first, but indeed the picture was by all means worth the trouble, too!
