This male swan did not like it at all that I came even near his pond.Related content

I can imagine very well they do everything to defend their area and especially their nest and youngsters. Indeed I do avoid to get too close. Have been told when I was young that they can break your arm, but that may be a warning-off story for children. - As to the left wing it is quite o.k., as shows another shot I have of this particular swan. Perhaps you mistook a kind of second set of tail-feathers for that left wing.

nasty territorial creatures. and they can do you some damage if you get too close....but i guess you know that.
nice set of reflections. is that the left wing dragging in the water? never seen one do that.
