This is not the most perfect shot, but a lane and tree lover like me feels that this old beech-tree deserves a sign of remembrance. It is always very sad to see one of the tall old guys going, I find. This one must have been pretty ill as the roots were partly rotten. So it was too weak to withstand the stormy winds of the other day.On the outside, however, it looked just as well as the other ones of this lane. It has taken more than a hundred years to get to this size. Now no more further growth ...

Always sad when one goes especially when they have to be carted off and can't stay where they lay to become a home for something else and grow moss covered and become photogenic all over again.

Well, it is the nature of everything alive to someday die and return to the earth. In pre-human days it would have nourished the next generation with its decomposition. It hurts when it happens though and I can empathize with you.

Thank you. Of course they have to go once. It is a pity though on these lanes as they are not replanted here. And when they are it takes so long for them to become really big trees again.

Ik vind het ook altijd heel triest als zo'n grote reus geveld is!!! Weer een minder! Zou er nog een voor in de plaats komen?
(gelukkig zijn er geen ongelukken met mensen van gekomen)

Jammer genoeg worden ze hier niet herplant. Wel in Groeneveld en enkele andere parken. - Inderdaad goed dat er niemand was op het verkeerde moment.

That's hurts me, and remember the storm , at the end of january, many many trees fallen, roofs off, everywhere around us, electricity cutted during eight days, no phones, no gsm, no heating,no internet, no DA !! holy cow !! ... but I had to notice this shot is very well-done !!
