Description
Summer or winter, the old beech-trees are braving it all. I find it always a consolation to find them back. Whatever happens, they will be there.Taken near Hilversum/The Netherlands

I like the sentiment of your remarks. Also, this makes me dread winter ever so slightly less (but I still love when everything is green and alive!)

How old do you think they are? Probably a couple hundred years?

Yea, that's what I thought. We would call that old growth trees here, but in Holland many of these were actually planted by someone. Such history.

These were not only planted, but also pollarded decades and decades ago. Which now results in these very special trees!

Alsnog heel hartelijk dank. Moet er maar weer eens heen gaan. Dat zou goed zijn voor de innerlijke rust. Die ontbreekt er wat op dit moment.

It would be lovely to go walking amongst these beautiful trees. If one is inclined to hug a tree, these would certainly be candidates for one's affection .
On this Christmas Day, as I again look at your wonderful photographs, I want to wish you the very, very best. May you be blessed with good health and happiness in the coming year .

Big solid trees in a magical wonderland. Their gravity makes me feel strong and grounded. Wonderful image Juergen. Hope you have a beautiful Christmas and a positive New Year.

I know traditional artist are often praised by claiming "this looks like a photo!" I hope you'll consider it a compliment when I tell you that when I saw this in my message center, I thought it's a painting. Beautiful painting. I think it's the light that creates that effect. It's amazing, so warm and soft as if wrapping each tiny twig in its kindness, yet creating rather sharp contrasts together with the snow.
Great work!
