Description A by now historic shot of the ferry terminal of The Hook or Hoek van Holland on the so-called New Waterway, the canal connecting Rotterdam to the North Sea, taken in September 2004.

There were two types of Stena ferries running to Harwich then, the fast one and the slower one. Here you see both, the fast ferry still at the quay - it left shortly after -, the slow one having just arrived from Harwich.

In the meantime the fast ferries were taken off the service and sold off.

The service still exists. We actually went that way several times in our lives. First for me it was in January 1971 when both my wife and I went to Coventry after our wedding where I had my first job at the University of Warwick.

When we came back for an Easter visit, I remember us being SO seasick, with the "King George" battling heavily against wind and waves and taking about one hour longer to do the crossing. BAH! But it is long ago.

Ach, Häfen! Du hast ja vielleicht inzwischen irgendwie gemerkt, daß ich was mit ihnen habe! Ja, wenn man aus Kiel kommt!
