it's the first time i see a picture of them on dA. i enjoy looking at them but never caught them until they were a little more grown up. after a few days, i used to take the little frogs back to the pond

No, I have never seen a picture of them here either. It is good you were so kind to them.

well I did, 'cause my parents wouldn't let me have frogs or small lizards as pets and made me understand that they are wild animals and need to live in their natural habitat, just in order not to see them in our house anymore

Thanks for making me look at this old shot again. Great you like it. And the other one, too.

Just one more point: I do not know whether you know my other active gallery here on dA, as I can no longer keep track of all my visitors and watchers on my galleries. If you have not visited it before, please come along:

There is also a third one, but that is inactive at the moment, as I could no longer cope with keeping up three galleries. I think it is still worth looking at:

Do enjoy looking at it all.

I tried to raise tadpoles once. I thought they were doing well. I could even tell they were getting bigger. And then one day, they just all...DIED. All at once. It was terrible.

These look nice and healthy though Cute shot.

great shot !! so much detail, I don't think I ever looked at tadpoles this closely and long. very fascinating photo oh, and the quare crop works very well here, i think it's better suited for detail shots and patterns then for landscapes.

Oooooh, they are so cute! I love frogs.

It's weird that you posted this in conjunction with what happening over here at my house.

We have this big pool in the backyard (stand-up, not inlaid into the ground or anything permanent like that), and for the longest time we didn't clean it out what with it being winter and all over here. Over time, with the beginnings of spring, there were hundreds of frogs over the back fence (a little wetland area) and lots of frogs in our pool mating and calling and having a grand 'ole time in our yard. Over time they stopped and it got quiet again. Although, I really did miss falling asleep to the frogs at night. So time goes by and we have to clean the pool. We have a rental house so the landlord (who just happens to be my boyfriend's dad) demands we clean it. Ya know, for the summer and all that. So he dumps a bunch of bleach in and it kills pretty much everything. As I get home to find out what happened, I'm kinda bummed out. But I just happen to look at whats floating above the filter and there are a bunch of frog eggs and a frog hanging around. So, me and my boyfriend (who also feels bad about killing whatever life was in that pool) go out of the way and put those eggs and the frog in a big ceramic garden bowl with lots of water for everybody and we leave them alone for while. I wake up in the morning and find that the landlord's wife had taken a bunch of gardening supplies with her out of the yard. Including the pot. Of which the water, eggs and whatever remained were dumped on the ground somewhere... Poor guys...

So it got emptied enough to where there was only about 4-5 inches of water left in the pool. We left it like that for about a month or two and upon checking it last week there were so many tadpoles in the bottom you couldn't count them. My boyfriend said to me, "ya know, my dad's gonna want us to finish cleaning this out really soon..." And of course, the next day, I found out that the pool water had been bleached again while I was gone. I looked at all the dead little tadpoles and was really quite sad for a while.
My boyfriend got home from work and commented that he went out of his way and waded through the mucky water to gather up a whole bunch of those tadpoles and put them in a bucket that he bought earlier, specifically to put those guys into. I was happy and we both went outside to watch the little guys swimming around in the bucket under the tree outside our house in the yard.

After all that, it really made me glad to see that we could save some from meaningless death. I don't know, I'm kinda sentimental that way. Sorry to rant and rave but I thought I would share that story from what your picture inspired.

What a lovely story about a sad happening. Poor tadpoles! I am afraid most tadpoles do not survive for very long, but these indeed had a very premature death. And you putting so much effort in trying to save them! That was very sweet of you!

I just couldn't stand by and let it happen considering I knew it was going to happen anytime soon. But they are still swimming along in their big bucket. Quite a few now have their legs growing out and they have a ton of misquito larva to munch on when they're hungry. I think they are going to be okay now.

Good luck with them. When I looked at the pond this Sunday again, there were only just two or three. No idea what happened to the others ...
