Description Whatever the weather is now, cold, with rain or showers, sometimes with sleet, it is only a few weeks and the woods will be green, just as in late April last year.

Taken near Hilversum/The Netherlands.

Looks blissfully quiet. We are into autumn here and the temperature is dropping so I will enjoy looking at you spring photos. Thanks you so much for sharing them with us.

It sounds as though your Hilversum is our equivalent of Kingston Lacy! That is a beautiful and enormous estate very near here and its filled with the most ancient and unusual trees too. Unfortunately its necessary to drive about 5 miles to get to it, but its free, and parts of it are always open to the public. Badbury Rings is part of this estate too, an earthworks (ancient Roman grave grounds). All very beautiful for those country walks out of season when all the visitors aren't around!

They say there were 180 000 visitors in 2006 at Kingston Lacy! So it is indeed better to go out of season.
We have some country-houses around here, but the estates are usually pretty small and not always open. But there is open heathland and some forest area. So that is a very beautiful mixture.

Sounds like our area in so many ways, even if different. We have the New Forest not too far away, which is totally beautiful, especially when the heather is out; stately homes and estates are everywhere, thanks to the National Trust of which we are members. They have preserved and restored many a beautiful home that became too much for their original owners to handle. We also have Badbury Rings very close to us, and were there this morning on a shoot. I haven't even looked at those yet as I wanted to get caught up here first! I'm sure there will be a few shots and hopefully a couple of panoramas from there to post up soon.. Oh and right behind us is Canford Heath, which is now a Nature Reserve, and has been really well restored, with lots of wild-life my husband is dying to get out there and capture on camera (I would love to do it, but find it very hard to get into those low postures and stay steady and by the time a tripod has been set up, well..! You know the rest! lol!

That does sound very good indeed. So I hope you will have a lot of pleasure and good shots even without the low postures and the tripod!

Image stabilisation helps a lot of course This afternoon I applied an extension tube and did some close-ups using it with my 17-85mm lens and got some good results of some rather boring stuff. So Richard went out and bought me a beautiful bunch of flowers, and tomorrow when the lighting is right in the front lounge, I intend to take a few shots of them on the window sill in front of the net curtains (same place I took some very well exposed pictures of Molly). Oh I shall have the water spray out no doubt, and even a little pipette for single drops - all experimentation and fun!
