Description They were tough guys out there on the pier at The Hook or Hoek van Holland on that day in September 2004.

I dug them out from my photographic archive yesterday, looking for some more out-of-the-forest shots. After all, some variation is a nice thing, too, is it not? But do not be afraid: we shall go into the forest together quickly enough again. Perhaps even today. Certainly tomorrow ...

That sea looks rough. I do love it though, I haven't seen the Atlantic ocean in a few years. Nice shot.

The North Sea can be rough, but I think that the Atlantic Ocean is so still more.

I've heard horror stories about bad winter storms in the Atlantic but i'm too far inland to ever have witnessed them, we just get the residual effects.

i am homesick..and jealous..i lived along the coast in the US..and when a storm would come i left the house immediately and went to the beach..it is a rocky coastline up the northeast of america..and the waves would come pounding in..it really made you feel alive..

It was not quite without danger to stand out there on the pier on that day. But these men knew the place, of course.
