Here the solitary tree on the edge of the cliff at Schilksee seen from below. Only from this perspective can be seen how precarious its position is.Related content

No rock, I am afraid. A clay and sand cliff (Ice age moraine), it has no future, as each winter storm from the north-east takes a meter or so away ...

Well, the first houses are about 100 yards to the back. Within pretty short, they will have to build wave breakers, I suppose.

"Don't come any closer!! I'll jump!!" hehe, very cool shot. I think you're right, doesn't look like it'll last much longer where it is. That'll probably erode fairly quickly. Cool shot though, nice work

Yes, very probably it will not survive another winter, I am afraid.

It's going to fall in before long... We have coastline like this here, and much fuss is made about the houses that are being taken by the sea. Very sad. But it's natures way...

Yes, the coast is alive, and there is not very much, we can do about it generally. At the Kiel Fjord, something can be done, though. You see those wavebreakers on some of my Schilksee photos. Well, they have successfully kept the cliff of the village to have been take away. But wavebreakers along the coast are very expensive, and you cannot have them everywhere, of course.
