Description
Was it a beech tree or an oak tree? I do not know. But what I know that this one was a worthy fellow of the other ones still standing around the dead trunk of this former giant. Taken in sΒ΄-Graveland/The Netherlands.Related content

Wonderful shot, the new replacing the old. As if the branches of the young tree are protecting the old fallen tree!

It has to happen, hasnΒ΄t. Fortunately that particular country-house parks has the largest trees around here. So they obviously keep them as long as possible, ie. until they fall naturally. At least some of them.

The important thing is making sure there is a young replacement!

If you were a tree, this would be looking at a decomposed corpse roting there in front of you.
ly shot there!

Lovely image..
I love the way you have captured the textures of the trees...
The fallen looks so old and gnarled in contrast to the tree still standing..
Brilliant..

It's a very great picture! But it's sad... But otherwise it looks like it has been fallen down by nature and not cut down by people, so I think it is the way, nature has to go...

Yes, nature must have its way. No, this one was not cut down. And: there are quite a few giants standing there! So overall the picture is not too bad ...

Just one more point: as you take such an enjoyable interest in my shots on this gallery, I wonder whether I told you about my other two galleries? Here the links:

Do you think so? I would say that "lightthinker" is at least just as good, from the nature point of view, I mean ... ????

It is great too... What are the reasons you divided in three galleries, what are the differences?

jchanders In reply to Ailime-Ael [2006-02-12 10:57:00 +0000 UTC]
Why these three galleries?.
The first was the jchandersΒ΄ one, mainly concentrated on nature shots. Then I started the lightthinkerΒ΄s one, combining inspiring quotations (βlightthoughtsβ with good pictures.
The third gallery was added in November, as I wanted to have a special gallery for the subject of βman and his workβ, and also to do some experiments time and again. There is some overlap, of course, but there always is in life.
Actually I am glad you are so positive about "lightthinker", too.

It like a tree graveyard, so sad.. These big magestic trees, fallen....
But on the bright side, they feed the eat, provide homes for critters and decay so beautifully!
Great shot!

No trees for eternity. But you are right about the bright side. And the particular beauty of decay is not to be overlooked.
