Description
This must be a tough species, as it survives the winter (well, that little bit of winter we have had here this year) in such good shape.Taken on the grounds of the country-house Einde Gooi near Hilversum/The Netherlands.
Another appeal to the mushroom specialists: which species is it?

No idea, but I think it has a lot of character for a fungus

I love the fungi species...so much variety and some can be quite woody, like the tiny ones that grow in my garden off an old dead tree. They look white, fluffy and soft but are made of the stuff of the tree and quite hard to the touch, very strong.

It's an old specimen of a Piptoporus betulinus (English: Birch Polypore or Birch Bracket, German: Birkenporling, French: Polypore du bouleau, Dutch: berkenzwam).

i believe it's a type of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus)...grows around the world and the winter weather doesnt' seem to bother it any.
