Description
Some trees can be like models. You want to shoot a picture of them again and again. Certainly this dead oak tree belong to that category for me.Cf. among others: [link]

Oh darlin, I just saw it! How awful. I'm SO sorry. I would be so sad if it were mine, I got so attached to mine too.
The images you have uploaded today are a fine tribute to it.

I used to cycle along that path already now and again when it was still (somewhat) alive. Fifteen or so years ago. It already had a special meaning for me before I started to take pictures of it. So it will remain in my thoughts! It was such a monument of natureΒ΄s beauty!
I hopy yours will be stronger and outlive all storms at least during your lifetime!

Oh thanks Jurgen, you're so sweet. Mine is only recently discovered, and I never knew it when it was living. Yours will have had much greater meaning to you. What a shame.

The funny thing is when I look back all that time that I never imagined what it would mean to me later. Especially not as far as this dA-time is concerned when photography has won a completely new place in my life. I could never have dreamt of that.
Yes, I am glad I had some good shots of the old guy placed here on this gallery.

I know just what you mean. People have loved your tree and encouraged you in your shots of it, so you have grown to love it all the more. The same for me too.
When the time comes and mine is gone I will be happy that I had so many images of it in my gallery too.

Another great picture in a great series of pictures. Looking back through the others it seems you have made a very interesting project out of capturing the passage of time on one object. I think I will try something like this myself, thanks for the inspiration

You're welcome.
It's a shame it has gone. I have a favourite tree about 30 minutes from here. I'll try to get some pictures of it this weekend.

I love trees and you have captured the different moods of this old oak (I looked at your links too). I like photo series also taken over a period of time in different lighting and different seasons. Great work in general.

This is propably my favourite of the pictures you've taken from this tree. The colours, the green of the grass and the brown of the tree and background forest match perfectly. And mist always creates such a fragile athmosphre.

Well it had to happen one day. Though it's really sad it's the way things are ment to be with nature. The circle of life.
