I am glad I was there on that day. It being so dry, they nearly dried up in the meantime. Yes, from a macro perspective it looks indeed pretty alien.

What a splendid picture of Pogonatum aloides.
I love the way the sunlight hits the sporangia (the little 'caps') of these mossplants.
The variation of green/red colours of the stems come very well out in this picture. Very good macro-work!
A for me

No thanks JΓΌrgen. I like to help where I can.
Indeed I think you can find some more information with Google. I also have my literature (in Dutch): Beknopte flora van Nederlandse Blad- en Levermossen (W. Margadant) and Nieuwe atlas Nederlandse bladmossen (J. Landwehr) if you need some more scientific information.

Dear me! so much information! Thank you very much for it all.
No, I just hoped to find some more pictures by googling the name, and did do so, realizing that mine was not a bad one among them. So that gives a good feeling. Any more scientific info is not needed in my case, I am looking at nature more from an ethetic point of view, but of course like to know which plants or mushrooms I have taken. Once again many thanks.

Ah wow! What a shot. This is moss? Never seen moss like that. And you're right, small things can be easily overlooked. Nice macro.

Now you make me uncertain. But as far as I know this is moss! Perhaps one of the specialists can tell ...

Well, don't count me as a master of botany. I know alot of plants but I'll never know everything about them. It's just hard to see from this angle what it really is. But I think it's probably a moss.

Many thanks for your quick reaction. Well, the real master of botany among my friends has reacted by now. Please have a look at the reaction of ~SmoothEyes further down on this page. He confirms it is a moss. His gallery, by the way, is very much worth looking at.
