Description Soon these meadows shall be as green again as they were on this shot from early April 2008. At the moment they still show a dull sort of yellow-brown, due to the long period of frost and snow that lies behind us. Actually spring was very early in 2008, so we certainly shall have to wait a few more weeks this year.
Taken on the grounds of the country-house Groeneveld near Baarn/The Netherlands.

As you see from the ditch, the meadows are still the polderland. But where the forests are the land starts to rise gently, further on to a hight of 15, 20 and at one point even 50 m. This is an old moraine from the last but one ice age, the so-called Utrecht hill ridge. Well, hill is a big word, but in the flat and wet polderland the higher sandgrounds are very prominent. Actually nearly all the forests on my pictures lie on this hill ridge. It is about 5 to 10 km broad and 70 km long.

In the winter where I live... its all green. In the summer it turns to a gold color with the sun. How I miss the lush green hills in the summer time. Lovely shot.

I live in Northern California... Have you ever heard of Napa? Its above San Francisco. Its beautiful here...
