Description There were about 20 of them in that little pond, brightly lit by the warm late-March sun, all sun-bathing on the surface of that pond. Never saw a sight like that. Of course, they quickly dived into the weeds, but one or two stayed long enough for me to take a shot. This one worked out reasonably well, I would dare to say.

You are quite right: to be at the right spot at the right time, that is 90% of your success as a photographer. The rest is a reasonably good camera and a good eye, and of course the brains to see what you see!

Exactly...well I'm off to bed...good to talk to you and we'll catch up later no doubt

We shall.
It is funny imaging you going to bed, while it is 4.16 pm here. But that is part of the new world-exchange experience, unthinkable in former days.

I love frogs. I am lucky enough to have several connecting lagoons going through the grounds of the condo I live in. Right now, as I write this, I hear hundreds of small tree frogs doing their infamous mating calls. This continuous croaking, during the night hours, lasts about 4 months. I find it comforting whilst others find it an annoyance. I could never capture one as they are so tiny and fast. Thank you for sharing such a great frog capture.

Great you love frogs so much. I never managed to capture one before, because they quickly hide when they hear someone coming. Perhaps they were kind of sleepy in that bright warming sunlight and did feel safe, too.

Frogs are some of my favorite creatures. What do you suppose that "blue halo" is around the frog? Light reflection? Good stuff.

Yes, it is light reflection. Great you like the shot so much.

You're welcome.

I'm doing okay. I stopped taking my pills a week ago and I've felt better since then... ironically.

I am not really surprised. Sometimes a certain sort of pill has only a negative effect.

Great picture! But it reminds me of a horrible day: It was 9pm and already dark and my mother came to the NaturbΓΌhne Hohensyburg (it's a theater in a forest on a big big hill) to bring me and a friend of mine home. There had been a lot of rain before and it was still running down the mountains path, where we drove. And running with the water were thousands (exaggeration) frogs! I had lots of screaming fits, because I thought we were killing them. I'm still shaking and I really hope, we didn't hurt any frog!

That is a rather unpleasant story, to put it mildly. Perhaps it is what they call a frog trek here. The frogs move from the meadows and forests into the ditches and ponds to do what they have to do each spring ... Here in Holland the traffic is especially warned, there are frog watchers and even frog tunnels in certain places.

The 10th April, there is not forecast going as far as that. It may be very fresh still, but I just have no idea.

Great you like it so much.
The blue stuff is the mirroring of just a very little bit of the sky on the surface of the pond. It is very strange that you do not see that surface on the picture. The water seems to have disappeared. You do realize however that it is there, when you look closely, as the waterplants are blurred.

Reasonbly well, thats is how I would put this as well.
It is not the sharpest I have seen from you, but it certainly isnt the worst. I do like how they float, and I think there are parts too bright, but thats hard to control in this shot.
So I say, you did reasonbly well.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jchanders In reply to MLunenborg [2006-03-31 12:12:47 +0000 UTC]

I quite agree with you. The shot could have been better under better conditions. The light was extremely bright, and the frogs gave me too little time to try various diaphagmas.
