Description This first deviantArt submission after my long stay in hospital is dedicated to all of you who have reacted with so much involvement and compassion. Your encouragement has meant ever so much to me. Many, many thanks for all your wonderful messages once again.

This picture was taken near Maartensdijk/The Netherlands in early February 2008. I would love to go there now once again, but still have to be patient, I am afraid. Fortunately there is still the good old store of pictures which I have built up in the past years. So I can stay at home and still dig up some treasures for you.

You will walk there again sooner than I will, Juergen, and I hope you will post many more of your wonderful pictures to help with the odd feelings of home-sickness I get, especially when I see images of a path that just begs to be walked... Be well!

Rest, get well, be at peace... find your new way... All shall be well.

I had to find a new way to be, create, etc., when I began my midlife crisis (which involved alot of health/aging issues... not quite as serious as what you have been through... but still, I think I can say that I am confident you will find your new way to be, create, live etc. Perhaps you will be back to your old way of life, given time, perhaps a new adjusted way.

I think no matter what you surely must grow and change due to your experience, what you have been through etc. I think that God as you perceive of God, your muse, your friends, your self, your higher self, etc., etc., etc., will help you. Hoping you can be at peace and gently become what and who you are meant to become.

Of course the essential part remains the same, but as we change, grow, adjust, it seems we are becoming something new. All that walking about, photographing, etc., will mean something and be a part of where you are going, the new way of relating you hopefully relax into. I guess if I had any advice, having just been through a big change and adjustment over the last several years, it would be to try not to fight it or let oneself be frustrated with it... just breathe, be, trust, and sort of melt into, ease into who and what you are becoming as person and artist.

It matters less where we go, exactly what we create, exactly how much we create... just that we, in some way, and in some fashion, continue to grow, be vital, create, etc. Perhaps, even if you are unable to walk about and photograph like you used to, you will do something new and interesting with all your photographs, photograph new things within your reach, use old photographs in a new way, write or draw or some other such artistic endeavor with the eye of a photographer... "I am a camera" as Christopher Isherwoods book title says!

Well those are my thoughts for you. Hoping you are back to wandering and photographing just as you used to. But if things end up changing and being different, I know with confidence that you will find a good, new, lovely, creative, vital way that fits you and where you are in your life.

Much love!

Hi Merton,
Thank you very much indeed for your highly thoughtful and compassionate reaction. It is most kind of you to write at such length.
I am quite hopeful that things will be very much the same again, once the next tumor is out too. What remains is the knowledge that everthing has its limits. It will certainly help to concentrate even more on what is important in my life.
I am blessed with a wonderful family, and also with this possibility of sharing my photography around the world here on these galleries on devArt and Redbubble. There is so much still to live for. I hope I get the chance to share my joy of life with you for quite some time to come.
Ever so many thanks once again.
And all the best to you,
Juergen

Hello there, Juergen

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to you...

You are most welcome. I often write at length. That is my nature. But I did want to write something meaningful and helpful to you. I do hope that the removal of the next tumor goes well.

Yes, indeed, everything has limits, including us. I agree that health issues, no matter their severity do help us to focus in on what it most important. Gosh, why does it so often take being stopped in our tracks to see this.

So glad that you have a wonderful family, and that DA can be a kind of family for you too, as well as a creative outlet.

Sending you prayers and good thoughts right now from my little suburban art hermitage in USA.

Peace to Juergen-

Merton

Hi Merton,
Yes, the DA - and also the Redbubble - family are a great addition when it comes to feel supported on a tricky bit of track. My track of the past weeks was rather tricky, I am afraid.
Now I am fortunately slowly getting better. I already walked for half an hour on the heath here today, so that is an improvement.
I wish you a lot of inspiration in your creational work. You are much more of an artist than I am, I find, so it is a great boost that you like my work so much.
All the best,
Juergen

Hi Jurgen... so good that you got out for a walk... and calling it the heath sounds so exotic to an American! One imagines Cathy and Heathcliff, or some character from a novel out on the heath or the moor! Wink.

Ty for your compliment. It is nice to be called and artist. I thank you for your wishes for inspiration for me. Artists certainly need that. I try to listen to my muse!

And, in regards to your work. What's not to like? Wink. Every piece is gorgeous!
(And, the places you depict always look so heavenly... like one would be at peace and happy there... and since humans are, at least in our day and age, often so stressed, these are a pleasure to view for so many, I am sure.)

Thanks for creating such loveliness. The world needs it... and I think we need to be reminded what a lovely place the world is (or can be, if we seek it). We must seek out such beautiful places and visit them, physically and in our minds when we are unable to physically be in such environs.

Pictures have their own magic, you know? Just look at them, calm your breath, let your imagination run loose and you'll be there, walking among the fiery leaves, breathing the cool, damp air.
