Ooo I love the extreme focal point here. Very interesting piece of history here too. That's the thing about Europe and the surrounding countries, the U.S. is so young but across the atlantic, time is unfathomable, where a castle can date back to 1066 and still be standing. Unimaginable.

Many thanks for the applause. Yes, it is a great experience to discover the history of a stretch of land which seems so "normal" these days. How can we think that once here was a border between the BishopΒ΄s land of the Bishop of Utrecht and the CountΒ΄s land of the Count of Holland, running along that Tienhoven Canal which you can see on quite a few of my pictures by now? And they fought battles here, where now cows and sheep graze.
