Description Since I like to commission pictures of Dragle, I thought she needs a proper reference sheet... Besides, I've been drawing lots of little pictures of her while animating anyway, and they were just perfect for a reference sheet..! ^^

It's a bit funny that this bird got a reference sheet before most of the main cast, but I really really love her design!!! xD

Anyway, this should make drawing her a bit easier.
The proportions in the pictures are probably not even close to perfect, but you get the point ^^"

Done with Gimp as always.

Now, for a more scientific information about Dragle, since I like that kind of stuff..! xD
As you can see, Dragle's length is about 4,5 meters, and the wingspan is about 7 meters. Dragle weighs about 70 kilos.
Originally Dragle lived in an area surrounded by mountains, and lots of desert and rocks.
She isn't a good hunter, and preferably eats things that were already dead. Dragle tends to swallow her prey as a whole.
Because of her huge size, Dragle can't start flying straight from a flat ground, she needs a cliff of some kind (rooftops work well) to take off. But when she is in the air, Dragle can fly for days, using winds to aid her.
Dragle is a surprisingly good runner. Her long tail helps her with balance when she has to run on the ground.
Dragle can live longer than a human, but the average lifespan is unknown.
If the Dragle in my story is the only one of her species is not known. But they are assumed to nest in caves high in the mountains, laying only one egg every ten years. The chick stays with it's parents for several years. Apparently they mate for life....

And that's about it! xD
My bird geek took over, I hope you don't mind...

Such a pretty bird
I love the style you did this in!

Hmm... How tall would they be if they perched on the ground?

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it

Hmm, I wonder.. 2 - 2,5 meters I think... (I suppose that's like 6 - 8 feet..?) ^^"

You're very welcome :D
I love Dragle <3333

Hmm... that's about 6'6" to 8'4"
And I wonder, their wings might be a bit small for such an enormous bird

That might be true. Dragle is pretty "light weight" compared to her height though. xD
Anyway, what kind of wingspan would you see suitable for her?

I was thinking about 8 or 9 meters...

I understand though

Yeah, that's realistic. ^^

When I was thinking about the size of Dragle, I thought that 6 - 8 meters of wingspan would be enough to keep her in the air since Dragle's wings are quite broad. After doing some research I thought that 6 would be enough (and nicely compact too), so I went with that.
But it's hard to figure out her wing loading (1m² should be able to carry up to 25 kg if I understand correctly)
Anyway, this is an interesting topic, and I can change Dragle's wingspan depending on what I learn about birds and flying.
