Description
40x19, acyrlic on wood. Was hell to paint since I didn;t know you had to prime the wood so the paint won't soak in. Overall it isn't too bad aside from the awful clouds, but it was a good learning experience.
Painted using only shades of red.
I actually didn't totally waste my vacation!

Never think of anything as a waste of time, because 99.9% of the time it won't be a waste of time, if you learn something its worth it. I have one piece of advice, which someone very wise gave to me: always be observant everyday and of everything you do. I constantly think as i look around how i would paint this and how i would paint that. i wil observe a tree and think about how to paint the bark, or look at some fabric on the table how would you paint the colours it holds and the texture. Your painting is very well done but i have one issue, the straps going over chest, i assume either they would follow the curves of her body: in which case they should have shading along the strap, or because of the size of her cest they simply go straight (as you have drawn them) from the top of the garment to her shoulder, in this case they would cast a shadow. All i am saying is you have the skills, you just need to observe more carefully. if you are painting from imagination, (which i think is extremely difficult and i have not really attempted it)then you need to study in real life what you wish to paint from imagination so to speak. The studying will allow your painting to come to life because you know wat it would look like in real life, sorry i am rubbish at explaining i hope you understand what i am saying. if you are painting from life then the best advice is written above, be observant!
Anyway, you are most deffinitely improving! Your colour is always sound and man i wish i had her boobs hahahaha

Ahh I see...*absorbs critique* . Thanks so much, I really appreciate your taking time out to pick apart the painting for me
. I totally agree with what you said, and yes it's true that observation is really important(which I hardly do haha). My goal is to achieve a style between realism and fantasy, somewhere between there. Thanks again Han!

Please don't take any of the critique the wrong way, the better you get the more picky the comments because the less there is wrong with it, if you see wot i mean No problem though i don't mind putting aside time for those who matter
i didn't use to observe much didn't think i needed to but it is the only thing that can help one improve
I think that would be a very nice style to have Jem and i don't think you are far off what you want to achieve

No, you didn't waste your vacation, didn't you! Painting is much more difficult than drawing, in my mind, but you're producing some nice art work. You should continue exploring your art, just like what you're already doing, because you're very talented.

Lol, I wasted a fair part of it, but at least I was somewhat productive lol. In a way painting is harder, but it's more relaxing than drawing. I shall continue indeed, and thanks for the encouragement

That's what matters. I can see how it would be without having to pay attention to every single line and mark. Drawing exhausts my brain and more so, my eyes.
It's always my pleasure to support an artist.

Drawing is really exhausting and requires a lot of patience lol. Your eyes are good to go if they pick out such good photo shots!

very well done.
(quick trick: if you don't have regular primer use hairspray. it takes a bit longer to dry because you need to wait for the smell to dissipate some, but it works!)
