10-second exposure? Wow, it must take one's eyes quite a while to adjust to such a dark tunnel before it looks that bright...

The contrast of the bright blue light against the rather drab, industrial grayish-yellows is a real eye-pleaser. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your comment. When I took that photo, I didn't know that it would turn out the way it did at all. The tunnel was basically dark, with the purple light in the distance just barely visible.

thats is really, cool i love it and the repetiveness of of the lights. maybe if you changed the colour scheme, (hue/saturation) or contrast might give it that lil extra kick +fav

the angle is perfect because of the vertical line created by the left side of the tunnel! great shot. i would made it a bit darker...

Thanks, i'm glad you enjoyed it. I tried an make the angle a little extreme to be different.

Brilliant shot indeed. The perspective is great. Your camera caught beautiful colours. The picture possesses an almost surreal feel to it. It is a very eye catching pic indeed.

I saw the "Advanced Critique Encouraged" down below, but I honestly can't find anything at fault in this picture. Great shot.

A Critique doesn't necessarily have to state that something is wrong with the picture. It can just be a discussion of lighting, clarity, sharpness, meaning, etc.

Excellent angle, the angle helps with the hard lines of the rail track and the pipe direct you to the blue light at the vista. Good job.

I really liked taking this picture. When I saw it, I knew it had potential. I just snapped a few in between trains, and was pretty happy with the results

To keep on the legal side, and assuming your camera is digital, you can always just stretch your arm out over the tracks and take a few shots, and if they don't work, just delete them.

As for the photo...I like the angle you chose. It gives a great depth of field and its something other than the overused center of the tunnel routine. I go back and forth on the colors, but overall it looks good. Well done.

RazzBaronZ [2004-11-01 22:02:51 +0000 UTC]

I love this. The alternating light and shadow, and the yellow color are great. One thing I'd do is to crouch down more to get more into the photo. As in, lay down on the tracks and tilt slightly up. I'm not sure if it would've worked, but as someone mentioned, try diffwerent angles. Nevertheless, this works very well. Well done.

jerod In reply to RazzBaronZ [2004-11-03 22:35:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comments. I would totally go for trying to lay on the tracks, however, it would be completely illegal where this was taken so my options were limited. Also to stay on the legal side, i had to have my camera at the height it was, because there was an obstruction below it that would have prevented me from getting the shot, and I could not go 'beyond' the obstruction. Still thanks for the comments though

i love the severity of the angle and how your eye is drawn right to the blue dot. at first, i thought maybe the angle shouldn't be so severe, but after looking at it for a while, i think it's perfect just the way it is.

hey I appreciate the comment; thanks! I took a couple more pics like this at the same time, and decided that I liked how this particular version drew your eyes from one side of the picture to the other, like you said.

Cool, i'm from Oregon too. I like the yellow tint on this. I'm not much of a photographer. Did you play with different angles? I can't tell, but maybe a slightly less severe angle of the tunnel would be better. And you prob couldn't control this, but it would be cool if the blue light was a light bigger. Awesome pic though, the composition is great

jerod In reply to SokerCap [2004-10-31 20:37:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your comments. I did take a couple more shots, both of which were less angled than this; however, I took clutter out of the picture by doing it this way. The others don't look so bad with the other elements that were in the picture, but they did detract a little and so I just decided to leave them out.
