Description
Long story..painting for practice. I used a extra heavy gel molding paste with a palet knife..caked it on like icing..made little peaks everywhere like a meringue pie. After that I used the airbrush to mix in all the earth tones..reds, yellows, creams, greens, browns..Then I painted the tree..in black.I did this quite a while ago to keep me sane while going through something tough. Ill always remember that time period.
If you're a Boondocks fan then you'll understand the title..
The concept is not mine..I take no credit for it...though the painting indeed is.I no longer know who it was who inspired this..

I'm highly addicted to [adult_swim] but I've only seen a few episodes of The Boondocks. So I don't really know anything about "A Dream Deferred". But the title seems to fit this one. Prettu eerie...skeletal. Definetly worth having around the house.

This looks really good! The darker brown at the bottom makes me think of dirt, and the lighter color like a sunset. So, with the black tree it seems much like a cross-section of the tree and ground during a sunset... if that makes any sense... I really like it though!!

Actually, "A Dream Deferred" is referring to a was a well-known poem from the Harlem Renaissance, written by Langston Hughes. But, I'm thinking you may have already known that.
What happens to a dream deferrered?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And the run?
Does it stink like rotton meat?
Or crust and shugar over--
like a syrup sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Last episode of the first season, the Passion of Ruckus, the whole last few minutes of that episode were clearly the best in the entire season so far and generally a good sign in the direction of the series :^) This tree looks a whole lot like the one Huey was under during that brief storm in the last few minutes, even shedding a tear. I don't remember if the title of this pic was mentioned in that ep. or in a previous one though.

Well aware of that one :^D I think new eps. are in March or this summer. They got anime production studio Madhouse to produce the animation for the second season and I can't wait :^D
