Description
Each time I draw this little guy, his limbs get shorter. (And that's a good thing) His design is actually several years old. When I first drew him, his limbs were long and stick like. (I think I was thinking of mosquito legs...) Anyway, he's so much cuter now.
Viviflies beat their wings so rapidly, that they make a loud vibrating/humming sound. (like a fly or bee, but louder) They zip across the sky at incredible speeds and can even fly backwards, or stay suspended. Their bodies (excluding their wings) are about the size of the tip of a thumb. They eat mostly fruit or any sugar/water based substances. Because of the amount of energy they burn to fly, Viviflies are constantly seeking out high sugar foods. They will also gather nectar from flowers to bring back to their colony and make honey. Their colonies are usually found inside plant matter such as: a tree, large shell or pod, or even in a jug. They like large round things with a single hole. So, one could set out a clay jar with a hole in it, and Vivflies may settle in. Viviflies do not sting, but they can bite if provoked.
Just pulled this description out of thin air. Wasn't meant to be Kotia's bees, but it works.

They seem to be a bit lively. Would that be the reason for the root "viv" which is "life"?
I was thinking hummingbirds because of how fast their wings move, and the fact that they can hover and move backward (which is something that only hummingbirds can do); in addition to their diet of nectar.
Interesting creatures.
So, are you writing a book on Kotian zoology?

Nope. No dictionary names this time. I was thinking of the sound that a "v" makes and relating it to the sound of their wings. Nice try though.
I know hummingbirds are the only birds that can do that, and I know dragonflies can too. I wasn't sure if bees or flies could, though.
Lol! Perhaps! There is a special folder for them. Actually, I have two colored creature pics waiting in the wings. I plan on doing more since they aren't that hard or time consuming. (Several hours vs. days)
