Description Process Gif for this:

Yeah as usual I can't resist the urge to whip up a process gif for art I'm proud of, and also gives me a chance to provide some commentary.

The main thing I really wanted to try out here was constructing a pose with action lines from the start.  In the past I've used them to "test" a pose that I freehanded, but this time the image started with literally just a few quick swishy lines (which sadly I didn't save for some reason which is why they don't appear in the gif).  I also recalled Robaato 's "bean method" for further construction which inspired her bent over torso since that's what I started that part off with.  As I fleshed it out I decided on the tram setting to give her something interesting to do with her limbs via interaction with the various parts of the setting.

As mentioned, I started out this pic simply wanting to draw a girl with rainbow lipstick (this was actually inspired by an online friend of mine talking about her experiences with some coloured lipsticks she'd bought recently and I was thinking about how cool using a bunch of colours at once could be if done well lol).  The two-toned slightly punk-ish hairstyle was inspired by this piece by sakimichan I recently came across on dA which I thought was totally bitchin'.

I've struggled for a long time with trying to make really vibrant colourful art that encompasses both light and dark without being a total mess and I feel I got significantly closer to what I had in my head this attempt.  For the colourful building that looks like a load of building blocks stuck together, at the step where I mention the near buildings guide, what I did was drew the basic outline of the building, basic cubes, then drew a front on view of what was to go on the side of the building, then skewed it into place over the top of that angled side of the building into the position you see it in above.  It's not perfect, I realised too late (for my patience anyway) that I hadn't skewed it quite right, but it does the job.  I then drew over the top to give it the same freehand look as the rest of the lineart, while also adding some 3D elements.

The girl's outfit I sort of winged as I went along but I'm happy with it.  There's a few parts that kind of make no sense but nothing distractingly so I hope.  Even though she was drawn as a one-off, I'm really happy with this design and put much more effort into her than my previous one-off character artworks, so might give her a name and/or draw her some more sometime.  And I guess finally for trivia's sake, not like it's gonna come up anywhere else, the little poster is advertising a nightclub called "Holes" which had a cameo appearance in Phantasm Dyad too actually.  It'll prolly be my go-to name or something for clubs in my fictional worlds and is based off a nightclub in Bath I went to several times during University called "Moles", which was, appropriately of course, an underground place, very dark but cosy atmosphere that I saw numerous student band performances at.

Guess that's all the commentary I've got really on this one.  I really put my all into it, most of my pics are about 2-3 hours work, so this being a 10 hour effort was a big deal.  Worth it though.

You already know how impressed I am by your progress, but I wanted to comment on this one (bit late, once again), since it shows your well-structured working process. I love the background-scenery - and you actually "built" it. I'd be more like "Ah, crap, too much white space left, should put some tree or building in there".
Anyway, great dynamics, colours and lightning! Totally worth those 10 hours.

P.S: That's probably the cleanes pose sketch I've ever seen
