Description This is my rendition of, in my opinion, one of the most haunting villains of all cinema. It is "Man" the offscreen primary villain in Walt Disney's Bambi. I know many people share the trauma of the first time they saw Bambi. The contrast between the playfulness and silliness and the truth of hunting in the film made it quite distinguished. Many people grew to strongly dislike this film for that reason, i.e. my mom and sister. For myself, Bambi is part a carefree happy film, and part truth of what happens when poachers and hunters go out into the woods. That to me is what makes it such a powerful, yet original film. I wanted to capture purely the "dark truth" of Bambi in this piece. I might do a piece that displays purely the happy, carefree side of Bambi.

But all of the analytical crap aside, I did this with pastel pencils and it took me about two days to complete.

P.S. I know that hunting is actually a way to keep the deer population under control. I mean no offense! I'm just trying to convey Bambi's message of what can go wrong with hunting...

The silliness in this film even compared to other Disney’s films is what makes even Bambi a β€˜memetic loser’ and I can’t understand that, especially with β€œBIRD!” and ice skating.

JG244,

Really creative dude and you deserved the prize, this really took some thought. Very original, which I think went a long way in helping you win.

i love it! I really have nothing to say except that you chose a great subject, one that doesnt appear too often, so as far as originality its pretty awesome......and work is great, I can tell you took ur time doing it which is good....colors are a good choice, its fiery and yet very dark as in evil.....

i just want to throw out my opinion as far as the "hunting" issue. i agree with what you said, of course, but i watched Bambi the other day, just on a whim, and beforehand i thought, like everyone else, that "Man" was the message of hunting, but recently i have come to think that "Man" was just about the "presence" of humans in the forest......its a movie about the peacefullness of forest life, and then the presence of humans turns it upside down...."Man" shows the different effects that humans cause, like hunting and wildfires, since the epic wildfire is not caused by hunting at all

Thank you very much! Yeah, I can see what you mean, by how man is simply the presence of humans, not just hunters. Very insightful!
