Description
This is a tiny clay 'sketch' i whipped up while waiting for coats to dry on a bigger clay project. Probably 15 minutes. The main benefit of being in school is trying new artistic avenues. I'm having a blast with sculpture. I have a larger full figure sculpture in the planning stage.There's a quarter next to him to show scale.

This is wicked. I'd like to see that big sculpture when ya get round to finish it. I dunno if you've ever used super sculpey before, but I personally find it much easier to work with than clay, it's definetly worth checking out if you can get your hands on the stuff.

Nah, I've never used super sculpey before. Is it oil based or does it harden? I'm def. interested in making this easier.

the consistancy is quite similar to plasticine I guess, with a waxy sheen to it, so you need to work with a fairly good armature underneath. You basically just warm it up with your hands to get it more malleable and then get sculpting. Some of the biggest advantages of the stuff, is that it doesn't go off hard or dry up at room temperature, so you don't have to wrap it up when you're not working on it. Also when you've finished you can just whack it in the oven and bake it hard.
My buddy is probably the best guy to ask about sculpting materials, and he's got some pretty good sculpey tutorials if ya need em
