The ice above Eva’s head shattered in dozens of pieces like broken glass. Without another moment hesitation Eva pushed herself through the hole. As soon as she broke the surface Eva took the biggest breath of her life. As she tried to regain her breath Eva felt herself being pulled back into the lake due to all the weight that she was still carrying. Quickly Eva grabbed the edges of the hole to stop herself from sinking, then using her upper body strength pulled herself out from the water. After dropping the backpack on the ground and pulling off her mask Eva collapsed on the ice. Eva was exhausted after her dive, unable to move all she could is lie on the ice try to catch her breath. Eva started to shake as an icy breeze washed over her wet body, she knew that she can’t stay like this for long or else risk getting hypothermia. Eva reached over to the place where she put her clothes to grab her sweater but discovered that it was no longer there, either was her boots, sweater or pants. In their place was only a note weighted down by a rock. It read “You took to long. As punishment you must make it back to the facility before sunset. You better get moving soon, the facility is about 25 miles due east”.

Eva figured that her trainer took her clothes as an additional punishment. Now she has too walk all the way back through the ice and snow wearing only a thin wet sports bikini. Not only that but she also has to carry the backpack back to the facility as well, to prove that she accomplished her training exercise. Even though Eva hasn’t fully recovered from her ice dive, she knew that she that she had to get moving now if she wanted to make it back before sunset. She didn’t want to be out in the wildness at night when the local wolves come out to hunt. Still shivering from the cold Eva picked herself from the ground and grabbed the backpack. After putting both her arms through the straps and making sure it was secure Eva started to run east as fast as she could. Despite now cold and tired Eva was she knew she had no choice; she was property of the Solar System Control Committee and until they have no more use for her she has to do what they command. Eva was created to win the tournament and no matter how cruel or unusual their training regiments might be they will put her through them to make sure she does so.
