Description
I've been wanting to make this one for a loooong time. The file I uploaded is big, but you can just right click and "save as" the full view if you don't want to wait for the download.
It covers the uber basics for photoshop noobs, plus some extra more complicated stuff. I've tried to fit in as much useful information as possible, and I hope it comes in handy for alot of beginning photoshop users. You may have to zoom in extra to read some of the screenshot stuff.
Feel free to feature this in a journal, add it to a group, save it to your computer for future reference, or translate it into a different language if you feel so inclined.
Please credit me where possible so more people can find the resource.
Also please let me know if you found it useful, need more clarification on a topic, or if there are any typos.

oh man! I did forget those. The work I put in was going on 10 hours so my brain was fried. I think I'll have to make a "version 2" to fit in some extra stuff. Thanks for mentioning it!
And yeah, total basics, but that was the point. most tutorial makers assume a basic grasp, so I tried to fill in the need.

A good idea is to double-click on the background layer at the beginning of any Photoshop file and to rename it "Layer 0". Then, you completely lock it (dark padlock), and you won't have any unfortunate accident while drawing/painting!

You could also create a fully functional Layer 0 by right clicking and selecting "Layer from Background"
You can then draw on this properly without fear of accident.

Yup, thanks for pointing that out! I'm more used to double clicking, though ^

Also, one important thing when working with layers is to be extra careful about which layer you're working on at any time. Activating transparency lock for the layers you're done with is a good idea, and using groups to protect those you're not working on right now can work too.
