Based on this idea I had brewing for a while now I guess |D
"RWBY AU thing where instead of Pyrrha disappearing in the the wind, she was left there incapacitated as Ruby did her silver-eye thing and saved her. Then she’d end up waking up on Patch (because they had no where else to go) with Ruby+ NJR around her-
(*Then it basically splits into either, Pyrrha’s left disabled to some degree becausethearrowhitherspineorsomething,eithertemporarily/permenantly.
(**or/followed with Pyrrha just needs time to recover herself from everything because holy shit was that a thing and then yeah- switches tracks to where RNJR are still off to find Cinder, while Yang and Pyrrha have time to develop and help each otherthroughtheirownmonstersandissues that eventually lead to Yang reaching some conclusion that she needs to find Blake, and Pyrrha tags along to help her and whatnot~)"

I don't understand people that say she needs to stay dead. I mean DBZ brings people back from the dead everyday, and it's one of the longest running animes ever. Star wars has force ghosts and no one bats an eye. But suggest Pyrrha be brought back and you're an asshole for even suggesting it.

It's probably because it's not realistic enough...

I'm one of the people who doesn't like people being brought back from the dead over and over... it makes death so trivial and less grim...

... which is why I'd like to think that Pyrrha actually hadn't died in the first place. The means by which she "died" were strange indeed. Everyone else just becomes a cold lump of meat... but Pyrrha vanished into thin air. Wouldn't that imply something?

I actually have a good idea for her resurrection, it involves a "dying-and-rising" theme with ALL team JNPR, I even posted a bit on it, mostly because I believe teams JNPR, SSSN, and RWBY have multiple allusions

oddball-bunch-of-muses.tumblr.…

Her resurrection along with the others wouldn't be disney-esque because it would have our beloved team, especially Pyrrha, in SHAMBLES suffering from massive PTSD from torturous experimentation, and THEN accused of being double agents of salem as stated in the link

I think in fact JNPR's other allusions foretell this IF I am correct

Pyrrha-Persephone (Also had a mother, who desperately wanted her back even to bargain with Hades aka Death)

Jaune-King Arthur (The Return of The King)

Lie Ren- Nez Ha the Third Lotus Prince (who like Mulan Kills himself, is resurrected from a temple ritual only to become angry and raged filled only for his father to quell his rage)

Nora-Balder who dies and is resurrected via Ragnarok

Pyrrha would need some massive help, it would be Jaune's turn to be the crutch and the hero needing help

Ten would need Nora's help for feeling guilt of being used as a monster and letting his rage fill his mind

It wouldn't be a sunshine and cutes resurrection, it would be them going to Hell an Back Again

At least thats my two cents

That's... kind of a long story. I can tell you more in a note, if you want, but to put it simply: there's a lot of fans who think Pyrrha's death was executed perfectly and shows how the show has gotten darker. Putting aside my own criticisms of the Volume 3 finale, as well as the characters during that time, I can kind of see how bringing Pyrrha back easily might take away from that (as it'll basically make her death pointless). Plus, there's the case that some people don't like it when shows, and characters, stay the same all the time. And there are people who want the show to be a brutal war story, where most likely getting back dead friends is not part of it.

Granted, here's what I think: there should be an implication Pyrrha can be resurrected, and at least it should only be implied and left for us (the audience) to decide if it does happen. And if they want to explore it, it shouldn't be a simple "find RWBY's version of the Dragon Balls and wish her back": the characters should go through a lot of hardship to try to bring their friend(s) back (a whole Volume could be based on that plot alone).

I totally agree that her Resurrection should not be as easy as summoning the dragonballs but....To say she SHOULD not be brought back and that it would "Cheapen her death"  is just not true.  There is a way to pull it off.  It actually could lead to TREMENDOUS character development for Jaune.

PsionicsKnight In reply to 63mh8 [2016-10-22 16:02:28 +0000 UTC]

That is a good point-and one I never thought of before. To be honest, it's kind of hard for me to say why Pyrrha shouldn't be brought back, because I'm with the group that she should (or at least am open-minded on it). The best thing I can give is that Pyrrha's resurrection might make the story too "Disney-esque" where a character can just be brought back after they apparently die. Granted, that's pretty easy to disagree with: her death was brutal, it might be pretty hard for her to get resurrected, and since she's a deconstruction of a Mary Sue, her resurrection might be a deconsturction of a Disney Death.

Also, one thing to note is that this is the Internet: if some people feel strongly over something, many of them will get incredibly angry at those who disagree with them-one guy on the RWBY Wikia's forums literally was so adamant about his beliefs, he not only acted like my views would ruin the show, but that somehow if I kept them the writers would make the show how I wanted it to be and it would be ruined for everyone. Along with this, it should be noted that while the subject may be controversial, the writers might decide to bring her back and if they don't right now, it might be something they change their mind on. After all, what happens to characters is, ultimately, up to them.

We can only hope.  I never agree with people who say that this was the logical conclusion or they had no choice.  A story is like a path with multiple forks limited only by the writers imagination.  To say there is no other way, is saying your imagination is too stunted to think one up.  I am also getting tired people saying "Don't mess with Monty's vision." or "Monty wanted it this way."  I'm sorry but these are the same people that rip George Lucas for constantly editing Star Wars to make it more like his "Vision".  They are also the same ones who criticize him for making Jar Jar.  Artists and writers aren't always right.  THey are human too and make mistakes like everyone else.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PsionicsKnight In reply to 63mh8 [2016-10-22 16:45:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, we can only hope. And I agree with you totally: the problem with some stories isn't that people are considering certain options in storytelling, it's that they don't try anything new with them or do something different (one reason why I think certain creatures, like elves, dwarves, vampires and zombies are considered overused nowadays). I also agree with the idea that Monty's views shouldn't be the ultimate source of authority: while the writers should consider him, there are things that might not be the best ideas (and besides, after Volume 5, they'll have to rely on their own decisions). To be honest, you make a good point about Monty vs. Lucas-especially since that argument is kind of hypocritical: after all, they're basically saying it's okay for the show to go a certain way if the writer does it in a way they want. While there'll, sadly, always be people like that, we can only hope the writers/artists don't have the same thoughts.

By the way, if you are interested: I do have a fan fiction planned that deals with the RWBY cast and will bring in resurrection magic. It isn't an easy task (nor will I say that the characters die and then come back to life constantly), but I will say that if Pyrrha also dies in my story, she will have a chance of coming back, regardless of what canon does.

Count me in.  Like I said,  Pyrrha's resurrection offers Juane SOOOOOO much potential for growth.  He's still the leader and can't be the adorable dork any more cause Pyrrha isn't there to save him.  He has to start coming into his own and man up and rescue the woman he loves.  You know what I'll even accept a Gurren Lagann Ending.  Where he saves her, just for her to die again but this time he realizes she is always in his heart as it is the one place no one can take her from him.

I'm glad. And thanks so much for the watch!

Right now, I haven't written anything with them, but I do have an idea for a five-part series that will act as a prequel to a much larger crossover fic. Just to say: I might keep the character deaths low, if non-existent, in this particular fan fiction, but this is for purely pragmatic reasons. I want as many characters available for the actual fan fiction story.
As for Jaune, don't worry: he definetly will go through character development. In fact, he might have to suffer more than his canon version. The villains aren't going to be getting off the hook either: while things might go really well for them for a time, after one point things are going to go pretty bad and they are going to run into trouble that will be played for both humor and horror (at different times).

I just checked it out and I really like your idea: especially since I've always loved the whole "corrupted Pyrrha" idea and the theory hasn't been discredited yet (as far as I know). I also like how you tie in Team JNPR's roles as well and how Cinder, Emerald and Mercury will admit what happened and take the fall.

I also would agree that it wouldn't be "sunshine and rainbows" for their resurrection/purification. Rather, it would be hard and lead to a lot of hurt. I even could see it happening with Pyrrha, since she's a deconstruction of a Mary Sue and, therefore, might even have a part where she deconstructs the "Disney Death" trope. I really hope your theory turns out to be true!

It's also kind of funny, since I actually have a fan fiction planned where corruption is something that not only happens to Team JNPR, but Team RWBY (as well as many other characters, since it's a huge crossover) as well. Granted, my versions are much different (darker, for one) but I think they'll be pretty good. I'm not sure if you'd like to hear more, but I can more about it, if you're interested.

I can go with purification next, I can put that in notes to save space for here, it involves Pyrrha becoming the Spring Maiden and Nora becoming The Summer Maiden

in fact I think the 4 maidens are only part of 12 guardians and a wizard in total (Teams RWBY, JNPR, and SSSN plus Ozpin or whats left of him)

Pardon for the long response: got busy. But yeah, those are good ideas and I like where you are going. Even if they don't happen in the official RWBY series (which I do hope they do, or at least partially do), I can see this influencing fan fiction creators and, if and when RWBY becomes public domain, later people who use the RWBY characters for their stories.

I think that would be good. And I like the idea of Pyrrha becoming the Spring Maiden-perhaps that's what she's supposed to be. Nora becoming the Summer Maiden is another good idea as well.

Ohhh, this is neat. What are the other guardians then?

I just realized something, remember the transfer attempt, and the fact qrow said that the maiden takes a part of the previous maiden in her?

What if as a result Pyrrha's soul is now inside Cinder? Waiting for reincarnation almost alluding to Persephone?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PsionicsKnight In reply to TheCrossoverer89 [2017-01-24 04:54:51 +0000 UTC]

I do remember that-maybe not the "current maiden has part of previous maiden" but I do remember what the transfer attempt was supposed to represent.

Granted... I'm sorry, but that might be stretching it a bit, since the show (at least in Vol. 3) didn't really show Pyrrha changed at all after the attempt, possibly implying it failed or could only work if the process was completed. Besides, the goal was to give Pyrrha the powers, not take them away.

However, a part of the story might be something like Pyrrha is captured (either in body or spirit) with Salem and the Persephone motif could be about her trying to escape Salem, only for her to return to Salem's base for whatever reason.

That is a good point and that could to show a bigger characterization for each of them.

Besides, it fits well since not only do all of the characters you listed here rise from the dead, but they do belong to the same cultures of the characters Team JNPR is based off of.

Huh, that is interesting. While I haven't seen Vol. 4 yet, and therefore can't say too much about Team WTCH, I could see Team JNPR being kind of like that (as well as kind of a coincidence, since Jaune in a fanfiction I'm making might not only become a Messianic Archetype, but also meets a Christ-esque figure).

It certainly is possible: I mean, if the writers decide to go that route, I'm not sure how far they'll go, but I could see it happening. Or, at least, I could see there being some Biblical parallels with all the heroes, like maybe Ruby taking on the Messianic Archetype and Jaune becoming her "right-hand man" of sorts.

Well in v4 manning was born from a light gods will to put luff into dust (God made man from dust in genesis) and the dark god was jealous that his brothers creations evolved and his, the Grimm, did not (like how Lucider was envious of God and man)

Ozpin and Salem are followers/prophets of them

At the very least, if the writers do keep Pyrrha dead, I just hope they don't do that stupid, "All the characters need is a good cry and then they're fine." I don't want the series to get into levels of wangst, but I also don't want them to just suddenly not go through the stages of grief-especially since what happened to Pyrrha was just one of many.
