Based on this idea I had brewing for a while now I guess |D
"RWBY AU thing where instead of Pyrrha disappearing in the the wind, she was left there incapacitated as Ruby did her silver-eye thing and saved her.Then she’d end up waking up on Patch (because they had no where else to go) with Ruby+ NJR around her-
(*Then it basically splits into either, Pyrrha’s left disabled to some degree becausethearrowhitherspineorsomething,eithertemporarily/permenantly.
(**or/followed with Pyrrha just needs time to recover herself from everything because holy shit was that a thing and then yeah- switches tracks to where RNJR are still off to find Cinder, while Yang and Pyrrha have time to develop and help each otherthroughtheirownmonstersandissues that eventually lead to Yang reaching some conclusion that she needs to find Blake, and Pyrrha tags along to help her and whatnot~)"

And back to the whole Cinder taking Pyrrha thing, Cinder also took Ozpin, and he left his cane behind (as observed in the clip after the credits). Yet we know he is still alive from Salem's speech.
And if they haven't begun production of volume 4 yet, then yes, she might not even know about Pyrrha's future (like you said).
Also, wasn't there a rumor going around that Monty said that none of the main 8 would die until volume 8? I know, evidence without a citation is the worst, but it's a big rumor that went around for a while.

A beautiful could have been. Though in my opinion I would have expected an injured and surviving Pyrrha to have been dragged back to Mistral to recover. So instead RNJR's visit to Haven would detour to find Pyrrha and then we get this reunion.
That does leave Yang in the same place as canon though, so not perfectly happier...

My idea for how Pyrrha survives is that Cinder unintentionally bestowed Pyrrha the ability to de/re construct herself at will like Majin Buu, at the expense of losing her old semblance Polarity.
Although this works great for a 'For Want of a Nail' fanfic.

I'm...ok with the tone shift, just not with the amount of stuff they did to get to this point. Right now, it reminds me of a tabletop game GM that railroads his players to follow his plot. It just seems kinds odd with what we have heard from RT regarding Pyrrha, I'm torn between being absolutely disgusted that they'd put so much effort into creating a character for the sole purpose of a "Stuffed Into The Fridge" scene, one Green Lantern villain Major Force would have been proud of (setting up the details as early as Season 1)....and thinking that there's a long-term plan involving her that required that much effort.

"They saved you, Pyrrha. The saved you."
"But, how? I was dead?"
"They... it doesn't matter. You're back. You're here. That is all that matters," Jaune states, hugging her close.
Things go back to normal for a brief time. But slowly, Pyrrha starts to notice things. Strange things. An occasional squeak when she stretches in the morning, a headache happening when she tries to use her semblance, an odd whiring in her ears.
Then, one day as she was cleaning her new sword after an intense spar, it happened. Her hand slipped, and the blade slid along her palm. She winced as the blade split her hand, weakened aura doing little against the freshly sharpened blade. She moved towards the first aid kit, hand closed to keep from bleeding. As she pulled out the bandages, she opened her palm and gasped.
Where there should have been a bleeding gash, there was silver. She brought the hand to her face. There, at the bottom of the cut, was metal. Where there should have been flesh and bone, was a metal plate. She looked her hand over, realizing she couldn't feel the pain anymore. She picked up her sword and stuck the blade into the cut, wincing as she carefully sliced away the flesh from the cut. As it pulled away, her eyes widened in horror at what they saw. Along the bottom of her skin, a lattice of wires and cables ran every which way. The metal plate gave way to more plates, and as she pulled the fake flesh from her arm, she realized her entire limb was artificial.
She stepped over to the mirror, looking into her own eyes. As she looked closer and closer, she started to notice wires and sensors, nearly imperceptible to the human eye, she knew, but somehow she had no trouble seeing. She could see the smallest detail, and a part of her knew what every wire did. Some part of her knew exactly what she was, but had never told the rest of her.
Jaune walked through the door into Team JNPR's room. "Hey, Pyrrha. I'm ba-" He froze as he saw her, slumped upon her bed, hand torn appart, revealing the metal endoskeleton beneath.
She looked up at him, a defeated expression. "Jaune. Did you know?"
"...Yes. I'm sorry, Pyrrha. It was the only way. Cinder captured your soul, but your body was destroyed. Ironwood stepped forward. What he offered... no one wanted, but there was no other way. They did what they had to do."
She looked as though she would start crying, but he knew she couldn't.
"They gave you her body... They made you... Penny."
He held her close as she failed to sob...

I’m sorry, for some reason I had to write this. It was the first thing that came to mind. I love the piece, very well done. I hope Pyrrha comes back eventually. She didn't deserve to be killed.

I would right it, but I don't know where I would go past that. It's really all about the reveal. Oneshot material, maybe, but it would just be expanding this in more detail. I might later. Right now I'm writing a random piece of crud out of boredom. Trying to come up with a ship name for Qrow X Neo. Aka, the most cracked ship I have ever explored... I just wanna write Yang's reaction to "Qrow, you brought home a silent PSYCHO MURDERER!" "Oh... but... not bad looking for an old guy like me, am I right?" *smug grin
