Description
Insight into the very basics of how I often colour, designed for beginners, but with what I hope to be helpful information for everyone... except for those really awesome people who already know everything...Anyways, hope this is useful - I had a few people wanting me to make a colouring tutorial, so here it is.

Nifty, I hadn't considered using the "screen" mode before, not sure why. If you use an offset towards a colour you can simulate coloured light sources with it
My own little addendum to the overlay stock textures - High Pass will automaticlly neutralise the bulk of the source image to grey, and just pick out the highlights/shadows of the texture, making it perfect for use with softlight/overlay. You make heavy use of overlay textures like that in Texture Art for 3D modelling.

Yep, indeed you can. As for the "high pass" thing, I don't know what that is :b - usually I'll tweak it manually.

On Corel Photopaint (and I believe on Photoshop too), it's a filter under "Sharpen". Basiclly it makes the image neutral grey, and picks out the highlights and shadows, so it creates a perfect bumpmap for overlay and softlight mode.

Nice tutorial, I really need to sit down and try them sometime. They make sense, I just have little patience to draw anymore. =/. Usually I get annoyed before my line art is even done.

Aww, yeah... I know how that feels - I don't finish a lot of my pieces because I'm unhappy with them at first. Don't give up, though!

The amount of tutorials I've tried and just failed so miserably at Photoshop... this one was the light at the end of the tunnel. I've definately started mastering Photoshop now, with a little help from an expert also, a big thankyou from me!!

Beautiful tutorial, and it's explained very well.
I like how you went more indepth and talked about the fur texture and skin-tones.

Marvelous Tutorial... Detailed, descriptive, and basic enough to understand!
Another for a great and generous artist. I don't have a lot of use for this as I'm starting to experiment (finally) with my prismacolors and my copy of Photoshop passed away, but I will, at one point or another, be coming back to use it. One day! *waves fist in air*

The only problem I had with this was the use of white text on a black background (makes it hard to glance from text to the picture). x_x I'm seeing white stripes everywhere I look right now.
Otherwise, kickass work! =3
