Ohh right yeah I know it. I used to work in The Hest Bank Hotel so I'd walk down there a lot.

You're welcome. I really love the depth of field and the tones. It makes me want to put on a coat and go shoot.

The mamiya is a great one. I've only tried it once but I would love to own one some day.

What?! That's insane. I'm incredibly jealous of that find.

Just haunt charity shops!
If you get them over there...
Internet shopping is terrible for old cameras, they're always over-priced.

Yeah we have lots of second hand shops. I'm always keeping an eye out.

So what cameras do you have?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 01:04:42 +0000 UTC]
I primarily use a Canon 40D but I love film. I have a Holga 120 CFN, a lomography fisheye, and a Pentax ME Super. I also have some old cameras of my grandpa's but they don't work well. A Kodak pocket instamatic 20 and a Brownie Junior. And at school I can rent out Mamiya's, Hasselblad's and 4x5's. Though I'm not using film as much as I would like as it gets pretty expensive. What about you?

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 01:11:04 +0000 UTC]
Wow
I'm slightly poverty stricken, so I only have a lomo diana, a lomo fisheye 1, a canon sure shot supreme and a mamiya/sekor 1000TL.
I just spent £110 on developing stuff, so now it'll be cheaper for me.

SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 01:29:38 +0000 UTC]
Mmm I love Dianas. I want one. Haha yeah I've collected a few over the past year. I haven't been shooting for very long. How much is a pound in Canadian dollars? Wow according to google almost 2 dollars. So that's a lot on development! I've been working on developing my film at school the old school way with a coil inside the canister. But sometimes a small piece of film in a beautiful picture is missed by the developer and it's really disappointing.

You could always set up your own dark room. I've started working towards that. I've got an enlarger now I just need the chemicals and a space.

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 02:55:06 +0000 UTC]
I have chemicals and a kit to develop film, all I need is a film scanner, which should come tomorrow, and bottles to store the chemicals.
Gonna turn our upstairs bathroom into a dark room

Awesome! Yeah I want to turn my closet into a dark room. I think it's big enough but enlargers are pretty tall.

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 03:20:51 +0000 UTC]
Ahh. I don't know anything about printing, so for now I'm going to stick with a negative scanner.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 03:26:52 +0000 UTC]
It's not hard at all. You just put the negative into the enlarger slide and figure out the exposure times....okay that part can be a pain in the ass. But it's such fun when you have a nice print on paper after.

I won mine in a draw at school. I got really lucky. Did you go to photography school?

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 03:42:08 +0000 UTC]
Wow that is lucky!!
And no, I went to an art college and did loads of modelling, but I studied music.
I was always interested in photography though and my mum used to teach me a lot.

Yeah, she used to be well into it when she was a kid.
What do you do now then? And how old are you?

SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 04:34:59 +0000 UTC]
That's so cool. I just started, well I'm a semester in, photography school and I'm 18.

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 04:38:15 +0000 UTC]
Ok that means nothing to me...
Apart from the "18" part (:
I don't get the education system over there.
What do you want to do when you're older?

SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 04:55:17 +0000 UTC]
Oh haha it's all good. A semester is half of the year. So I'm in a two year program and am half done my first year. I want to keep doing photography and I've been getting more jobs. So hopefully I'll have a moderately successful business with that. But I want to go to art school and teach. You?

JoeJee In reply to SkellingtonC [2010-01-27 05:01:34 +0000 UTC]
Ahh I see!
Well I'm qualified and experienced enough to be a sound engineer, but hopefully I'll be in the army soon. I'm up to phase 2 of my application.

I served 2 counties (:

SkellingtonC In reply to JoeJee [2010-01-27 05:36:17 +0000 UTC]
Will do. But he loves music too much to worry about things like that. BC! Definitely Vancouver or on the other end Halifax.

What's in Vancouver then?
