I used several of them ... I think some of them are from the free brush set by JonasDeRo and some are from my own adjusted set.

You can always use simple brushes (I did that for my first 5 years). They will teach you how to work with care. The more difficult brush, the more skill required.

Thanks for your confirmation! My thoughts exactly... too many brushes overwhelms me and I just get stuck I dunno what to choose!
Gonna stick to simple brushes for a while.. I've seen artists like Feng Zhu creating incredible stuff using just the default PS brushes.

Adjust the simple chalk brush (Chalk 11,17,23 pixels) - if you play with it enough (usually dynamics/dual brush), it can look like the actual brush stroke. However, you need tablet to really get the most of it but I guess you've got that covered.

Using the chalk brush and the soft rounded brush.
Working on 2 layers using an intuos 5 tablet.
What do you think? Am I heading in the right direction?

Yeah I think you're getting the grip ... just remember - it's not going to be over night or over fortnight - it will take months and might take even years. I was at the same spot (7 years ago) when N4u2k told me that the key to improvement is patience... ...he was right.

Problem is that I'm not in my 20's anymore and patience is not my strong point right now.
My main job is graphic design and I'm not sure where I wanna take the digital painting. I always loved drawing and painting but it was never the right moment to go all the way.
Nonetheless I'll do my best to practice as much as I can and then time will tell if it will become more than a hobby.
Wondering if it would be ok with you if I could send you some stuff from time to time, maybe once a month, just to take a look at it? If you got the time of course.

There's a lot more depth to this one than the thumbnail would have one believe. That "ring" of dust is probably dozens of lightyears from front to back
