There are 9 more stories branching off of that fanfic as well. Just go to Wheller on the fanfic website, he's almost done with the 10th part of the story and about to move on to the 11th.
I questioned the reasons behind the Alicorn and other parts of the story and he informed me that he had intended on continuing, which is extremely good.
Just read the rest of the parts, it's a great story.

I thought her coat would be a different color; red and white contrast too sharply, in my opinion.

I seriously hate how people give themselves alicorn OCs.
Alicorns are reserved for royalty (and Lauren Faust. After all, she created the entire MLP FiM.)
People who don't make good decisions or just want every good power for themselves make themselves alicorns.
It's either the unicorn or the pegasus. You can't have both.
Or I'll make you an Earth Pony.

Honestly, I think there could be more alicorns if, say, a pony had a unicorn parent AND a pegasus parent. Get the wings from one parent and a horn from the other. However, I feel that situation is rare since it is rare for unicorns and pegasi to intermarry, hence the severe lack of alicorns other than the royal duo. If alicorn OCs are/were explained that way, I think it'd be slightly less Mary Sue.

I get your point. But if some people tried to raise their status just so they seem much more 'superior', 'holy' and 'powerful', well, those are the real Mary Sue's.

Those are real Mary Sues, I agree, regardless of the race of pony the OC is. Alicorns can be powered down, though, so they aren't like that, but the vice-versa is also true of alicorns, unicorns, and pegasi.

I'm don't see how it eliminates the ideas of different personalities and perspectives. Alicorns can be just as varied in those as earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns. Abilities... it depends on the person making the OC, but yeah, I can see where you're coming from there.

I agree with Karingan, but I share your sentiment too, Meaningless. That's that typical mary-sue mentality kicking in. The only thing you can do, as with all things you don't like, is ignore it and move on.
