Field Report.
"The forerunner facility ran at least a kilometer into the planet. First recon with accompanying ODST unit reveal light covenant forces in and around the surrounding structures.
Minimal elimination and stealth tactics deployed to gain access. Preliminary searches turn up minimal information most technology is offline or in a state of low power. Further searches into the lower levels reveal several unknown containers holding a gel like blue liquid with illuminate properties. Scans reveal this material to emit a low level radiation. Samples collected for investigation by UNSC science division. Near the lowest levels of the structure we encountered more covenant, fleeing from an unknown threat.
We assumed Flood presence.
Our assumption proved incorrect.
The threat was an unknown life form, highly aggressive. Dome shaped and translucent, armed with the ability of aerial locomotion, and three blade shaped mandible parts attached to its underside.
Combat was unavoidable.
The lifeforms proved intelligent of combat tactics. Retreat was the only option. Upon retreat ODST team discovers covenant scientist, wounded from an attack of one of the unknown hostile lifeforms. We plan to interrogate the elite as we wait for out pickup. Gently."
