Description So, I am playing with deviantArt Muro. Had an interest in creating some traditional-feeling work to test the delicacy of this new tool. I had really inspiring meetings with some of the brilliant dA tech team this weekend at the House of Blues, and I want them to know that they have created a fine application.

This image is the beginning of a series I am creating for a new project I am working on. In January I received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts through the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs to work in Mexico. I am creating a large Mural-like piece depicting religious processions in Taxco, a little town in Guerrero. This is a study of one of the figures in the procession.

Looking great Mr Thornton!
I see you're trying to find a more traditional look to do in Muro.
I'll see what we can do about that.

Cheers

In Mexico, at Easter, some Catholic towns recreate the whole passion-play, including actual crucifixion of a participant "acting" as Jesus.

There ain't no chocolate bunnies in these towns...

The random colors you blended on the subject are wisely chosen to create something as simple as a side-drawing. I'm impressed and you're gifted. Keep it up!

pretty evident! 3 years back i didn't know colours could bring out shadows and highlights the crazy journey of an art student.

Color is something we will all be learning forever. It changes as we change, like our taste for certain foods changes from when we are young to when we grow up...

Oh yes, i do agree. and colour can be inspired, too. i was always taken in by vivid colours and how they could create an impact just as much as a stark black and white image.
