Judy was born in 1878 in Austria as a single child of Jakob and Nora Hoffmann. When she was 4 years old the little family went to America to follow Nora's brother David Mayers, who was a businessman in Saint Denis. Judith grew up on her parent's farm in New Hanover. Unlike many other children who grew up on a farm, Judy learned how to read and write with the help of her uncle.

Nora Hoffmann died in 1886 due to Cholera when Judy was 8 years old . This caused Jakob to become depressed and violent and Judy to run away from home when she was 17.
Since then she lived on the street, stealing from people to survive. In 1899 Judith got caught pickpoketing a man in Valentine, who was about to beat her to death when another man stepped in to save her from getting killed. This man introduced himself as Arthur Morgan. He brought Judy to Horseshoe Overlook and convinced Dutch to let her stay for a while.

Judith wasn't truseted at first so she found herself a little spot in camp next to Kieran. The two outcasts soon became good friends and Judith tried her best to win the trust of the gang aswell by helping out wherever she could. After a short time she gained respect and trust. Eventhough she was trusted enough to go and rob trains and cabins with the gang she kept her little spot next to Kieran to keep him company. Judith also became good friends with Sean and Lenny, who were all about the same age and the three young outlaws used to get into trouble/ shenanigans all the time.
After a short time with the gang she realized she had strong feelings for Kieran but kept it to herself since he seemed to have a crush on Mary-Beth, so Judy would come up with plans to get Kieran some private time with Mary-Beth, just to make him happy.

When Sean died in Rhodes Judy was broken but tried to get over it as soon as possible but after Kieran's death she was very quiet for a long time. She prefered to stay at the camp and often brought flowers to her dead friend's graves. When the gang robbed the bank in Saint Denis she also stayed in camp and when they didn't come back Judith helped Sadie to move the rest of the gang out of Shady Belle. Hosea's and Lenny's death caused her to isolate herself even more but when Dutch and the others returned from Guarma she felt better and spent a lot of time with taking care of Javier (who was shot in Guarma).

When the gang was about to fall apart and everyone had to choose their side she didn't know if she should rather be loyal to the gang or loyal to her friends. When the Pinkertons attackd the camp she escaped and ran into Javier. He took her with him to Mexico since Judith had nowhere to go.

After 4 years in Mexico she went back to her home country and stayed in Austria for another 4 years. In 1907 Judith returned to America and ran into John, Sadie and Charles. After Micah's death she wanted John to promise her to not kill any other ex-gang members (she wanted to kill Micah aswell).

A conflict with the law caused Judith to leave America once more and she traveled to England (to visit her uncle, who moved from Saint Denis to England) in 1907 before returning to New Hanover in 1911 again. After a short time she heared about the death of Dutch VanDerLinde and the arrest of Javier Escuella, who was with John the only remaining member of her old gang. Because of that and because she and Javier were very close friends, she decided to free him. After a successful rescue in West Elizabeth they worked together as bounty hunters in New Hanover before they both got killed by Pinkertons in 1914.
