The cake is a Lie-> there fore the cake may or may not exist. The cake can also symbolize an achievement or graduation in which case the percieved victory or celebratory event is hollow or non existant; Victory is actually defeat as an example.
The lie is a cake-> In which case it is sweet and something and percieved as delicious or something to be desired, while it may in fact not be such a thing. Many people Think that something is some way and find out that it is in fact different and not as desireable as one had first though.
Or maybe I'm over thinking the whole thing and we should just sit peacibly and have a slice of pie.

IT's the cube object from the "Orange box", a multi-game bundle including Half-life 2 episodes (additional game levels and missions), team Fortress 2 (Looks like the Incredibles with LOTS of guns), and Portal.
Portal a puzzle game where you are a test subject using a portal gun to make portals, holes in space, to eventually escape the facility. The Cube is fairly constant object to use in solving many of the puzzles.
But I don't get the "Cube love" either. I haven't played Portal yet.

If you are referring to the CUBE from TRANSFORMERS, I would have to disagree. The All Spark reminds me more of the puzzle box from Hellraiser.
