The amount of work the Russos went to in order to humanise Thanos - Make him comprehensible and even allowing us to feel a certain pit and sympathy for him - genuinely surprised me. Unfortunately, all the DC villains (with the arguable exception of Ares in Wonder Woman) were all: "Grrr! Me bad! Kill and smash!"
