Okay bc they didn't win I'll probably sell em, I have too many OCs alreadyΒ-------
I decided to try and design a new OC for them (sorry I'm terrible at designing stuff)
I was sort of going for a tribal pastel theme?

And they can run really fast despite their tiny legs and it's just too cute
I have a place for him. He's going to be made into a character for my own world. Niw I just have to get his Elements and explanation for his looks right.
I think there's Ice and Light in his blood, which will explain his light coloring and fluff.
But what about the purple?
Dark?
Shadow?
I mean, they can be purple, soo...

I want one as well, though we currently do have a dog. It's a shiba inu (named Inu, funnily enough)
My father isn't really a fan of small dogs either, but is fine with the size of a shiba. We just wouldn't be able to exercise a big dog enough, so we properly aren't getting one any time soon.

Illusion sounds like a good idea, though there is no illusion Element.
But a Light and Fear hybrid could be and Illusion dragon?
Alrigth, so, his father is a Desert dragon, which is of the Light and Earth Elements. He has a brother who is an Illusion dragon, which is of the Light and Fear Elements. His mother is a Cannibal dragon, which is of the Fear, Dark and Earth Elements. His father is a Angle dragon, which is of the Light and Air/Wind (still looking for what fits).
So Leo is a Shine dragon? Or a Sunshine dragon?
Idk it would fit the personality I gave him, plus the colors.
And the fur would come from his mother's side and the horns and most of the colors from his father's side?
Also no, you aren't bad at creating characters. You just made me make a new dragon species for the Fear Element! And that's great!

Oke I think I've finally gotten something down for Leo
He's a Shine dragon (Light and Air)
His biological father is a Desert dragon (Light and Earth)
His mother is a Cannibal dragon (Fear, Dark and Earth)
His mother divorced his biological father and got together with an Angle dragon (maybe that Angle dragon was female? Could be quite interesting)
An Angle dragon is of the Light and Air Elements.
He has a brother who is an Illusion dragon (Light and Fear)
But how did he get the Air Element?
Alright, so, dragons inherent their Elements from their parents, but there's a chance that they can get them from their grandparents as well, and sometimes even from their grandparent's parents (though that's very rare, like physical features are more likely to be inherited).
So Leo's grandmother is a Whiteout dragon (also called Chionothyellaphobia dragon (Fear, Ice and Air)), and they are covered in fur. He owned the Air Element from her plus the fur around the neck and arms. Leo's grandfather is a Mirage dragon (or fatamorgana dragon) (Light, Earth and Air). He properly owned the stripes from him (if I decide to keep that trait. He may just have gotten stripes from his father or mother. I actually haven't really designed them yet...)
For his mother's parents... still thinking of that.

Maybe do like someone here on DA did, named TheZodiacLord? They made a world called the Lunarverse and there a bunch of creatures from different dimensions can travel between each other.
Then you don't have to worry about rules.

Yeah, funnily enough most of the time I choose Elements AFTER creating the dragon. So it takes a while to explain.
(Oh she would. She would properly crack jokes about eating other dragons, despite the fact that she doesn't)
(Also, why did dragons even name them Cannibal dragons (better question, why did I name the Cannibal dragons?), I guess when they found the species it was a little cult of them who ate dragons and therefor dragons, being at the time pretty racist (trust me, that happens a lot), thought that all dragons from that species ate dragons)

And it's fun! I get to draw all of my designs out and improve, and I don't need to worry about not using them because someone will get them and (hopefully) use them. Plus you get money for it, so it's the cherry ontop
Yeah you can, it's really nice
The only thing I really have to worry about is deadlines. I love getting things done in time so I don't stress, so if someone wants to buy (I'll put this on the pricing list as well) I cannot promise them a time it'll be done. I can tell them the average time it takes (a fullbody realistic shaded image with complex background usually takes 2 - 3 weeks) and if it takes longer I'll inform them.
I know not a lot of people will be happy with that, but then they'll have to go to someone else, because I'm not gonna risk my mental health for that.

Adopts are suuuuuper fun
You're exactly right you vent out all the creative designs that you personally can't use and you make someone's day by making them a character! (it's the best when someone uses them as their main character oml I love it)

And honestly you have some quality art that people will wait for, time usually isn't a big deal (especially if you update them)
2-3 weeks isn't too bad as well, I've been waiting for a commission from someone for around 4 months now ^^*
Definitely don't stress about that, as long as you take what you can handle you'll be alright. Some people keep their commissions open all the time like hOW? That's why I do a few commissions every once in awhileΒ

I haven't seen anyone use my adopts as main character, but I've seen and heard people use them! And it makes me happy
Kinda don't want them to sit there and collect dust.
That's why I always try to find a spot for the ones I adopt, because most of the time the original creator would be kinda sad to see them not being used.

They properly do a bunch of things while working on the commision, most people do that.
I personally like to get things done before moving on to the next (unless I'm working on a personal project and there's a contest entry that needs to be made, then I'll put my own project aside and work on the entry).
I think maybe in the start it could be three slots? I don't want to verwork myself or become burn out (frankly I have never really experience burnout before, so maybe it won't be a problem?)
I just hear about those commision artists who do commisions but end up having no time for their own stuff. Which they are mostly fine with, but I can't imagine anything worse really.
Those people who have them open all the time properly live off of it. Or maybe they just don't have any personal projects they like to get done?
I personally want to do it every once in a while as well. As said, I want to have time for my own stuff
