Description
This is another faux One Sheet I drew for one of my favorite books, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I've seen a lot of great fan art for this beloved book, but have never seen anyone try to take a stab at casting a film adaptation or visualizing a movie poster. Most of the subjects in the drawing are sourced online, so credit where credit is due. Tyler Stout is one of my favorite artists and I again turned to his work for a layout arrangement. So, in the tradition of the book, which is a love letter to the 80's, i referenced his layout from one of my favorite 80's films, AKIRA, which Stout designed for Alamo Drafthouse.I tried to stay as loyal to the book as possible with the visual designs of characters, such as casting an actor with a Cheshire grin, or putting a little fat makeup on thinner actors, who i thought fit the personality, to get the look just right. I also tried to feature key characters and sequences that appear in the story that I'm sure eagle eyed fans would get right away. There are a lot of hidden references in here for those to enjoy.
The Medium is Graphite Pencil (A few mechanical pencils i had lying around, nothing fancy) on a 14" x 17" 80lb sheet

My apologies, I didn't see your response. Wow....a horror version of this sounds amazing, especially if you're influenced by horror of the 80's the same way the book is a love letter to that culture. I am a huge lover of 80's horror cinema and am heavily inspired by that kind of stuff.

Well, _I_ would love to see them, for what that's worth. I keep checking the IMDb stub to see how the movie development is doing. Cline lives in Austin, TX and was a guest at AggieCon this year... I will have to go next time if he comes back, was sorry to miss him. But since I live in TX also, will have to keep an eye out for him, quasi-local.
