yesterday's warm up, this guy's been in the idea-cooker for some time.

Any rate, this would be a character in my Happenstance world. He goes by the hero name Corporal Light. An former military mechanical engineer whose hand was crushed on base, his luck changed when a small meteorite crashed into his garage. After finding a small gem inside the boulder, he quickly found he had newfound powers he soon used for good (being inspired by others and his sense of duty to country).

Soon after, he found out he was actually in league with other similar heroes called the Star Wardens. With fate-driven-gems that awaken their ability to channel their soul's energy directly, they're an intergalactic force that safeguard their own planets as well as help avert omega-class disasters to others. On a more local level, they act as ambassadors for Earth, helping to keep it independent from the strife of the bigger universe (in exchange for keeping the tech progression of earth to a more natural rate). ... as well as fighting crime and saving people where they can.

... it's also worth noting that while there is a galactic formal uniform; Star Wardens across Earth (like Corporal Light here) typically use outfits of their own choosing. For a counter example, a sailor fuku inspired outfit is popular amongst Japanese wardens.
