Description
This was an artistic equivalent to an impulse-buy. I was tired, bored, and just wanted something to do before going to sleep without worrying about if it's good or not. So I pulled up a Halo 3 screenshot (see if you can spot my reference, it's not hard) and started sketching. Took about 2 hours.First time I've done something like this, not to mention the best thing I've done with a tablet so far (with the exception of something I'm not showing you guys yet >_> )
And doesn't that suck? When I try to do something, it's fustrating and takes forever. When I just wing something haphazardly and quickly, it ends up coming out nice >.<
The title is significant to people who've been playing the Halo 3 beta. At the end of each match you can check your stats and all, and for each player they'll list their "Tool of Destruction" (aka, the weapon they got the most kills with). The assualt rifle is commonly mine, very glad to see it come back.
And now I hope the stylus combined with photoshop shall be my new Tool of Destruction

Sometimes you just can't beat the workhorse. There's just something that's so iconic about the game that sets it apart from everything else. It's Halo's identity and instantly recognizable art style and characters that make it one of my favorite science fiction series of all time, and likely will be for some time to come!

Yeah, there are plenty of power weapons, but that's what I pride myself on: not depending on any of 'em. Usually my goal online is to take down the n00bs that can't play without their precious sword/rocket/sniper/wtf-ever. And then I laugh when they try to tell me I suck 'cuz I'm not a cheap bastard like them
Mostly I just love the gameplay in the campaign, the kick-ass sci-fi universe it exists in, and the ability to have quick and fun mulitplayer games with my friends. Overall, I'll just say Halo is my favourite shooter because I find it fun through and through. But I will agree that there's plenty of others that are better in the areas of balance, realism, vehichles, weapons, AI, etc. etc.

haha! i play with normal weapons too! but the human sniper...man i LOVE it! the worst powerweapon is the melee XD at least thats how i feel (shoot at him a bit, then punch him in teh face)
some maps are boring too... like ...hmm i forgot the name XD

but english IS my strong point! it's just that i barely writes in english, thats why my english sux! i understand when someone talks english, but i cant really write...

H3 is better than the first game because in H3 you can play split-screen multiplayer :3
the multiplayer in halo is very extremely uber-1337 compared to other games! I think the best multiplayer is Team Fortress, CS, Half-life, Halo and the Swedish game Battlefield (lol brag!)
Standoff? Havent played the new maps >_> 2 bad 4 me i guess.

H3 has a ton of awesome stuff, but it was a sort of a let-down in a way too. My opinion is that the first Halo game had the multi-player that was most fun. The maps were great, and the gameplay wasn't complicated. On the bright-side, these new maps they're released and are coming out with seem to be a lot better than the ones that originally shipped. I absolutely love Standoff!
My apologies if you took any offense by my saying that english wasn't your stong-point. I merely meant that I knew it wasn't your native written language, and it's perfectly understandable if you can't type it well. I wouldn't ever judge you by that.
As far as being able to comment, you do perfectly fine pal. So far we've had nice little conversations, and even if you can't get anything out beyond "Nice picture!", I've no problem with that. It's the thought that counts, you don't comment on everthing, nor do I expect you to. So when you do, I know it means something.

*ahem* I beg your pardon, the first Halo for Xbox has both a two player split-screen co-op campaign and up to four players split-screen in multiplayer. That's one of the original reasons I loved it for, it was awesome when I was chilling with friend(s). The only thing H3 has over that is you can get up to four players doing the co-op camaign online, and it has online support for multiplayer period. You actually could play the first Halo online against others, but it required you hook your Xbox into a router with your PC and use some crazy program, took forever to find a good match with low lag. I rather play with my buddies on split-screen like you said

Well, lemme just say Standoff is the new equivalent to Blood Gulch. Two bases across a gulch, incredible fun.

lol Well xboxlive wouldn't of mattered, it wasn't Live enabled. Like I was saying, you'd tell the Xbox you were doing a System Link (a local box to box linked by a LAN cable) game, but had to do some crazy convoluted process of using the internet on your PC to tunnel it and you looked for games on your PC like it was a server list on any other PC game... only it'd come up on your Xbox and television. Not very easy to get working, and ultimately I didn't find it worth the hassle. But for the most-part, yes, there was no online play for the first Halo.
And everybody thinks the old armor looks strange now! I think it's 'cuz the new versions look so awesome, because back when neither H2 or H3 had come out, the old one was teh c00lest! I think it'd help if we could see a graphically enhanced version rather than the ghetto original Xbox graphics.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, that Battlefield! Yeah, still haven't played it, but I've definately heard of it. Been meaning to, but funny thing is I was gonna try 2142, but you're saying it sux so I might not XP
Gulch is a v-shaped valley according to wikipedia . I concur. But it also makes me think of a boxed-in valley with hilly terrain to be more specific. Perfect for a FPS map

i think battlefield 2 is omg teh 1337! dynamic illusions (the creators of the game, AKA Dice) and frostbit e(some game company) will create Bad company together!
and it don't sux, it's just that the other BF games are better.

That's a fact, pics never gets as good as when they're created spontainiously and without being filtered through the careful part of the brain.
Looks cool, you made a nice shading of the lineart, and that usually ends up looking good when colored on

Yup yup, forcing myself to use the tablet more and more. Before it was something I did begrudingly because I knew I was still no good at all with it. But now I actually want to use it instead of a pencil and paper. And once photoshop opens up, I pretty much forsake my mouse entirely
Except for right clicking...the button for that on the stylus is a little hard to push. And the tablet will only work on my primary moniter, if I wanna click something like the media player running on my other screen I gotta use the mouse, darn.
But yeah, that fact fustrates me. Because then when I really want something a specific way, it hardly ever happens. But when I just doodle, I make something completely and unexpectantly delightful. I mean I'm happy I made something I like, but I'm also a little pissed at the same time that I couldn't do that well with the stuff I try to do

I'm still rather shaky with it, but I'm gradually feeling more confident with the tablet. I'm even starting to prefer it over pencil and paper. So much cleaner, easier to fix things, can't irrepairably screw up, cuts out the need to scan and digitally ink messy sketches, and there's just so much stuff I can do digitally that I plain can't traditionally.
But yeah, definately, tablets are tricky business. I look forward to learning it better.

Thanks, wasn't gonna go that far originally. I was gonna stop at the sketch at first, then I slowly fell into the temptation to shade it, color it, etc. That's kinda why I made this a progress image with all the steps rather than just the finished one. But yeah, adding little splashes of lighting from the muzzle flare along the rifle and armor was fun
I actually love it when I get meleeing as my Tool of Destruction. With the open hand it looks like its saying I slapped everybody into submission
Nah, getting MVP and being on the losing team is schweet. Means you rocked regardless your teammates let you down

I like this one, really looks good in the small view (although that's just my personal opinion with most sketchy tablet drawings, hehe). Anything Halo rocks!

Yeah, it's always nice when the preview image is plenty good on its own. Small is often better, elminates the sketchyness and condenses the resolution of the pic.
