Description I'd like to exclaim this piece to be the most worked on as of yet c:
I decided to extend my patience and only work on it when I see fit instead of proceed with a negative attitude of needing to finish it.
The idea came to me as I watched to "Hannibal" series, and I actually (mostly) followed through with the initial idea.
Interpret as you, an individual, interprets it.

Acrylics & oil pastels (I got new pastels!!! : D), many hours, I'll get back to you on the size {12"x16"!}
This one's for sale, and it should be noted that I'm going to have an etsy shop up right away c: If you're interested, be aware that I'm desperate for money, so don't be afraid of dropping a comment <(UuU)>

Thank you for looking!

(gosh darn, it looks so much better in person :C)

Hello and I am from a.deviantart.net/avatars/b/e/b… " alt=" " title="beaute-lamour" /> and I am here to provide you with a critique today, remember all critiques are subjective and I hope this helps e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

Your critique is done by me and also a.deviantart.net/avatars/l/o/l… " alt=" " title="loveforart101" />

a.deviantart.net/avatars/l/o/l… " alt=" " title="loveforart101" /> said - β€œPositives- this art look great, the vertical composition helps to strengthen the focal point of the artwork and so good emphasis with the flower and the antlers. The colours of yellow around the top of the subject I think are great cues to get the attention on the subject so I think you used good use of colour and the warms toward the focal point, like I said before good emphasis. The clouds look phenomenal, great job with shadow and texture they don't look flat.

The colour scheme is not really bold like I am used to seeing from your abstract artwork but I think it looks good for this piece and work well. And you do have good skill in my opinion for effect and the effect of the cloud blurring away in the side of the artwork looks great and that what adds the surreal nature to this artwork and it is my favorite thing on this artwork so good job.

Suggestions: Don't have much except maybe would like to have seen a little value on the sunflower part, I think I see a hint of it between the petals but not sure if those are lines or hint of shadows and it maybe add a little gold to the cloud overlapping or in front of the subject because the other cloud are white with hint of gold and those one are just white which make it look a little flat but it is not to the point where they look out of place or anything like that.

This is a great artwork and very original to keep it up.”

Me-
Okay to start I really love your style of your piece like he said above it is very original and I also would like to add very creative as well. Like he stated the clouds look amazing, you are great at painting them they have dimension and very strong values and they look very naturalistic. I also admire the almost gradient effect that they go from dark and heavy to very white and bright and desaturated the hint of gold you used helps indicate the glow and also helps unify your colors very well and I think creates a rather overall nice color scheme for the piece.

I also love the fading of the red latter and I love that the clouds opening and the blue sky help to make your focal point strong so the composition is done very well, you also have a great sense of detailing and the pieces has great harmony to it. This piece looks great and very surreal, I hope this helped e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>

A very impressive piece indeed, you've given me to critique. So... Here's my spiel. I like this piece. Particularly, I like the rugged look from the acrylics and pastels that you've used and that is definitely the highlight for your piece. As for symbolism and originality, I'm a bit torn. Without your description, somewhat explaining your piece, I really couldn't pin down a solid message or interpret well enough that I could pin down my emotions towards this piece, within the first 30 seconds. Let me have you know that I looked at your piece for around 10-15 minutes before writing my critique for you in order for a strong, constructive feedback.

I am open to all art forms (using my common sense, overall creativity, and weird thinking to analyze the art pieces), and as an abstract piece, I appreciated it; however, from a technical standpoint (opinion, of course), this isn't the strongest piece. (I apologize if it isn't an abstract piece, I am not as gifted an artist as the majority of DeviantArt is)

The Verdict:

+Appreciative art style
+Original
-Weak impact
-Lack of a "wow" factor
-Tough to interpret

Thank you for much for the critique!Β

Yes, I'm trying to put more meaning in my pieces, it's a great struggle UuU I'm glad someone can see the same thing in this piece though. The negative comments keep me sane by confirming my own suspicions. Thanks again!

No problem. And by all means, I do commend your artistic ability because my dreams were crushed a long time ago lol. Just keep making more, and putting yourself into EVERY piece you create. Remember that you're creating, so love needs to be shown.

Aw, don't let anything get to your dreams but you.Β

Thank you for your advice, it's actually very commendable. I've been focusing too much on aesthetics and not enough on meaning :/ That's a good quote you got there though, I'll keep that in mind whenever I'm arting.

Wow, that's perfect! I love the atmosphere in your painting, it gives a lot of room for interpretation, no matter if you watch Hannibal or if you don't.
I like the way it looks so peaceful at the first glance - the golden clouds, the flower, the red rope-ladder - but if you take a look at the whole piece that changes. The ladder looks like blood that drips from the antlers and the dark clouds under them, I like that contrast.

I really have to continue with watching Hannibal, the series has something really fascinating. While watching movies or series I usually draw, it might sound weird but it helps me to stay concentrated while being creative - even if I might not get half of the plot and the dialogues of Hannibal because of that.

Thank you! I wasn't looking at it like that before.

omg i do that too. I'll freeze the screen at a shot that looks fun and draw it, before continuing. It also raises suspense because I'm making myself wait to find out what happens next.

Also, Hannibal is truly one-of-a-kind. After watching the entire season, I can honestly say that it's at least one of the best things I've ever experienced. Have you watched the other movies, Silence of the Lambs maybe?

You're most welcome!

I love that way of watching series... If I haven't got a sketch of the main character, you can't say that I've ever watched it. ^-^

No, I don't know Silence of the Lambs, but its on my books-I-really-have-to-read-list.Β

I totally agree with you, Hannibal is fantastic. The whole visual thing with the flashbacks and theΒ hallucinations is incredibly well done and I like the constellation of the characters. And it is nice to see something different to all these 'Here is the victim where is the murder'-series.

Oh, and is there a possibility that I get to see some of the drawings you did while watching Hannibal? I'd love to see what you did...

...and excuse me if the things I wrote don't make any sense... It's late and the part of me which had some basic knowledge of languages went to sleep hours ago Β

Beautiful work. I love the textures done in use of the clouds, and the beautiful lights and darks mixed in the clouds as well. Detail is astounding, and I love the flow of color from top to bottom. Great work, and I'll definitely be giving our etsy shop a peek!
