Description The next in the series of photos I fear that due to having such a poor scanner that the photos will look rather poor at some point in the future i will repost new versions but for now these will have to do. most of them have been editing slightly to get rid of lines from the scanner reflected off hte photopaper but otherwise they are as I first created them.

When working with film I feel much more like a real artist having the ability to manipulate it as it goes from blank white paper to finally seeing what you want to see on the negative. I don't feel that you take a photo on the street or in the studio but on the enlarger. There you can start to create the photo you first saw when you looked through the lens

I missed this one yesterday, I like the dark ominous shapes created by the metal structures.

thank you very much. i think urbanlandscape is good at that. you can photograph something simple like a pipe or a window and it becomes so much more

Traditional film photography is a tangible, tactile experience. The convenience and ubiquity of digital photography has changed the medium for better and worse. Personally, going digital has made me a worse photographer but also enabled limitless possibilities in photomanipulation.
But I still miss threading film into my Canon A-1.

Regarding your photo ~ the composition, geometry, and contrast are very well executed. Because it's relatively close up and the architecture is indistinct, the characteristics of the image are more salient and (IMO) far more interesting than the subject. Hope to see more.

I agree I also feel like I take worse photos and I also don't pick and choose my subject as carefully anymore as I can take as many as I want and pic the best. I am not a digital hater I like having the choice between digital and traditional unfortunately I don't think future generations will be able to make that choice.

Thank you I feel that urban landscape is probably one of my favorite subject matters I haven't found much inspiration to take more photos recently though (almost certainly a result of having to work with the digital medium)

Thank you for the constructive comment we could do with more on da try and promote a dialogue about art thanks J

i almost never favorite photos, but in this case i will. i really like pictures of buildings with vents, a.c. units, pipes, electrical boxes, etc., etc. its a nice contrast with the metal and brick. plus, its a really nice black and white photo.
these are the kind of things i look for when doing my own work. by drawing stuff like this in my backgrounds, it makes my pages look more believable.
