Description

A quick tutorial made with support from my patreon! This is a simple method I found out to make quick clouds with great results.

Some extras to the tutorial:

♦If you are gonna use a sphere from google images, make sure to remove the background, as the sampler can and will sample whatever is surrounding the sphere (such as a white background), so make sure you delete any background your sphere has. If possible, look for .PNG files of spheres, or if you want you can just make a quick one like I did.

♦ The results will vary greatly according to the wetness and load you make your brush, and the kind of brushes you use. I prefer splatter and soft brushes for this method myself rather than actual cloud brushes. If you want, you can just end up making a cloud brush yourself. I could make a tutorial of this if you want me to, but there are a lot of cloud brush tutorials out there, it’s probably the most common tutorial along with grass brushes.

♦ I’ve noticed this method works best with clouds that have dramatic lighting, such as the one shown above everything. You can try more soft clouds like the samples below, but it takes a bit of a feel to get it right

♦  As mentioned, this is not intended to fully replace your workflow, you still need to polish and touch up a lot of things, but you can think of it as a base or as a quick method to aid in matte paintings or photo editings or quick webcomic backgrounds.

♦ Don’t get discouraged, just keep playing with settings until you find something you like.

I hope you find this useful !

UPDATE:
I recently opened a Gumroad account, and uploaded this tutorial with the PSD File of the tutorial to allow you to tinker with it.  It's a free tutorial, but you can pay any amount of money you wish when downloading from Gumroad, so any support from you is appreciated!

Glad it helped ^^ It's really good for a lot of things too, I forgot to mention a quick addenum on the comment and the image, but you can make a lot of cool things like bushes, trees and anything requiring quick layers with detailed shadows and lights.

Thanks and well, it does take some time, photo referencing and work, but this one's a quick method to help on tight deadlines or getting a concept out as quick as possible
