He's too far out and lost in the throws of life that he can't connect with the outer world anymore. All connection is lost, but he longs to remember it. He won't give up, he'll keep listening for that voice on the other end, but all he'll ever hear is his own turmoil. No one can reach him.
you represent the pains of life so well, I'm not quite certain about your mental stability, but damn you represent these things well. I'ts your gift to speak what others have marked as taboo.

The frayed end of the string really catches my eye.. Isolation, indeed. The phrase "cut adrift" comes to mind. (And I just now looked at the title... Feel a bit silly now. But this is still an amazing piece, so I suppose you could say my mind was addled by my consuming awe for your art. Or I'm just tired.)

I like the cut off home-made phone the best. The look on the man's face is so worn and like he's remembering a voice. He doesn't look morose, but intent on what he used to hear or longs to hear. I think that's the best representation of isolation. Not only is he lost at sea, but he tries to get something from a cut-off connection with someone/the world. Love it. I guess that was just my interpretation.

Wow, you represented the idea in your mind perfectly. I'm sure this needed a lot of work since you did it with oil paintings. The colouring is just amazing. I love the characted. Your truly gifted, and you know how to touch others' souls with your self-expressions.

This is very well drawn. It gives the impression that the man sees himself in such a negative fashion that he sees his internal "ugliness." Or, that he feels others view him as some hideous creature, and strays away from him. With the can and string, it gives the hint that he is wanting to reach out. But, due to the cord not being connected to anything, he is either doing it with the wrong approach or no one wants to connect with him. Of course the turbulent waves show his instability and troubled soul.
Then again . . . I could be WAY off with it. That's just what I got from it all. Good work, though. I'd rock it in my house!
