This looks a lot like what they used for the film Pandorum, since the film was done later I guess they stole from you... or it's the hive mind, who knows. Anyway it's amazing, I love the detail.

do you know the software Zbrush, btw?
with that software, if you take a picture from each angle of this sculpture (with each angle, i mean pratically just 6 pics^^ front, behind,east, west ect...), you can obtain automatically a 3D version!
