Ah, nothin more manly than two bros bonding over some gourmet baking! Haha, I love this. And Pyro looks fab in those pink gloves~ Always good to see more of your art! No pressure tho, you gotta look out for yourself first. Hope you're doing okay.

Just two bros chillin' and decorating some muffins, ain't nothing wrong with that (as long as Pyro doesn't set the kitchen on fire) Β Right? It's a great look, pairs well with the frilly apron. I'd wear that any day X)
Thanks, I'm doing a lot better recently health-wise, but work has been busy. I'm getting some exciting results in my research, so I've been in the lab a lot Hope you are doing well too!Β

Hah, true! He does rock that look quite well tho. Just Pyro things~
Glad to hear it! c: Oooh, what do you do exactly? Working in a lab sounds awesome
Yeah, I'm doin alright all things considered Starting to get real cold over here, and I'm stoked for winter.

Pyro is so versatile, looks good in any style X) A true fashion icon.
Uhhhm, I do biochem/biophysics, looking into how certain types of proteins interact with lipid membranes and help them change shape. One example is in our brains; the neurotransmitters that are used to send signals between brain cells are stored inside little compartments made of lipids, and to get them out of there, that compartment needs to fuse with the cell membrane. The proteins I work with help make sure this process happens fast and only when needed. I investigate how the proteins accomplish this in detail. I'm sorry if that didn't make a lot of sense, it's all a bit abstract to explain with only a few sentences, haha. In reality, I pipette tiny amounts of clear fluid into tiny tubes with another clear fluid all day, and sometimes sit in front of my computer staring at a lot of numbers and graphs, scratching my head Β
That's great to hear Same here, sweaters and tea are coming out big time and I am kinda loving it! (an slowly looking forward to Christmas already, ahem)

Ooooh, that is really cool! (Even though most of it went over my head xD) I knew you were smart, but you're like a real braniac over here. Reminds me of my big sister. She's going for her chemical engineering PHD in Wisconsin, and whenever she tries to explain what she's studying I just smile and nod like an idiot because it's like a whole different language, haha.
I sometimes call her Engie, and even though she's not into TF2 she still listens to my incessant fangirling c:
Yes! I'm already freezing my butt off, but I am ready! Bring on the snow!Β

JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-06 08:54:51 +0000 UTC]
Lol, don't worry, sometimes it goes over my head too and it's supposedly my research project X) Oooh, I wish her all the best! PhD is a struggle sometimes. How far along is she? I should hopefully finish mine by end of next year. Hehe, that's wholesome, taking the time to listen to each other's interests Oof, and about the"different language" aspect, my bf and family also just smile and nod. I took them on a labour a couple times, and I think that worked better because it was less abstract X)
It gets pretty cold where you are, right? Our winter is probably very puny in comparison. We don't even get much snow, except in the mountains

LaDeary In reply to JulieVeje [2019-11-07 23:31:21 +0000 UTC]
That's still awesome tho, I could never do anything like that. I'd surely go mad
Good luck to you too, you're almost done! She's about 2 and half years in, so I think that's like half way. I'd like to go over and visit her someday to see what she does. She comes home for the holidays, so that's just another reason to get hyped for Christmas!
Yeah, we're on the eastern coast of Maine right next to Canada, so it can get pretty chilly. We still have yet to see any snow tho.

JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-10 14:08:24 +0000 UTC]
Lol, bold of you to assume that I'm still sane X)
Thanks, I hope I can hang in there for the last stretch. Ooh, that would be cool, sometimes it's easier to get a handle on what the heck science folks are doing when you see it from a more practical perspective. It's very abstract when you talk about it, but often the work process itself is more relatable. Yay! I love Christmas too for that reason. I get to see everyone I left behind in Denmark and eat awesome food, huhu!
Ooof, that's a whole other level of cold compared to here. Do you usually have snow for the whole winter? But I suppose if you bundle up nicely it can be super cozy inside, and it's a great excuse for drinking lots of tea or hot chocolate X) I started knitting a sweater this week in preparation for colder weather, hehe.Β

Haha, I'm sure you'll do fine. I believe in you. Yes, my family isn't all that festive, but it's still nice to get back together for a meal. Can't forget about Thanksgiving either, that's my favorite holiday besides Christmas. So you were raised in Denmark? That's cool!
It actually just snowed a bit here the other day, but the sun came out and melted it. Yup, once we get more it'll stick around until spring, so we have to keep the wood stoves going through most of it. It's not bad, but mum kinda hates this season since she's originally from Ecuador, lol.
Oh, cute! I'd love to see any of your knit works if you feel like sharing!

JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-12 00:45:39 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that is the most important part IMO, gathering and enjoying eachother's company Oh, right! I always forget about it since we don't have it here, hehe. The food sounds so amazing for thanksgiving though!
Β
Yup, I'm Danish and lived there for most of my life, minus a few years in the UK when I was a kid and now 4 years in Germany. Β
Oof, I can imagine that's quite a jarring transition, haha. I'd miss the warmer weather too. I guess the snow isn't so bad if you're prepared for it and it doesn't ruin the traffic for everyone, lol. It looks pretty too.
Sure, I'll send you a pic once I finish it. But I'm slow X) It's a simply pattern too, didn't feel like struggling through some elaborate cable design. Do you knit?Β

Ah, so I guess Thanksgiving is mostly a North American thing :0 Makes sense.
Oh, that's interesting! Yeah, didn't help that she's from the city while it's mostly rural out here, rip xD Well, snow is a pain to drive in sometimes, but I can still appreciate it.
Yes, please do! Always nice to see your creations. Oh no, I don't have the patience for that, haha. But I am working on a little project since I haven't posted anything in a while. Trying to recreate a certain someone's coffee mug Β

I think so, yes, which does make a lot of sense considering the origin of it. I almost wish it was a thing here just for the food X)
Oof, she doesn't have it easy, haha. Has she learned to love it eventually? Oh, I can imagine. I hate driving in snow and we don't get much at all. Do you ever get snowed in and stuck in your house?
Nice! Looking forward to seeing that and that actually gives me an idea for a small gift for my bf, lol.

For sure, the food is the absolute best part XDΒ
She has grown to be content calling this place home, but she still goes back to visit the fam once in a while c:
Oh yeah, that happens whenever any blizzards hit, usually accompanied by a power outage.Β
Yeah! I just hope it turns out worthy to post. Oooh, mugs are always a goodΒ gifting option ^^

JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-13 16:02:50 +0000 UTC]
Understandable, home is always a special place no matter how much you love where you're at
Wauw, that sounds a bit crazy! I suppose y'all have backup generators and lots of food stocked up and stuff? I'd be pretty screwed if I got snowed in with no power -_-
I'm sure it'll look great! It's cool that you're crafty with stuff besides drawing too my bf is the worst sniper, so a #1 sniper mug would be the perfect taunt gift >

LaDeary In reply to JulieVeje [2019-11-14 12:43:20 +0000 UTC]
Yes, agreed!
Oh, it's usually not so bad. We just make sure to draw plenty of water and always have some extra supplies on hand until it's over. Doesn't last more than a couple days at most.
The paint job is good so far (as long as you don't look too closely at it).
Haha, you savage, that's great.
I'd say my worst, and least-played, class is Pyro because all I can do is WM1, so I don't bother. What about you?

JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-14 16:57:08 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, I'm sure it's no big deal to you, but being trapped in your home for days isn't something I've ever experienced X) it sounds hardcore to me!
Nice! Will you post pics of it soon?
Probably Spy. I've played maybe 3 h of him, so yeah. I'm hilariously bad I'm the guy that tries to sap the Engie and backstab his sentry
π: 0 β©: 1
LaDeary In reply to JulieVeje [2019-11-15 00:48:40 +0000 UTC]
Lol, I suppose ya gotta be a little hardcore to survive up here. It's kinda like camping when that happens actually.
Yeah it's done! I'll get a picture tomorrow when there's some proper sunlight c:
Oh dear XD As much as I like playing Spy, there are days when I do just as bad. It really depends who you're playing against. Gaben pls buff teh spy
π: 0 β©: 1
JulieVeje In reply to LaDeary [2019-11-15 07:54:11 +0000 UTC]
You're making it sound almost.. nice? X) Camping inside your own house doesn't seem so bad (although, I'm imagining pillow forts and stuff and that's probably romanticising it a bit too much, lol).
Awesome! Well done on finishing it
So true! But I gotta say, Spy fails are some of the funniest moments. There's just something about newer spies trying to outsmart you (while being completely obvious) and subsequently getting obliterated that's hilarious to me. Buuut I play a lot of Medic and Engie, so that might be the Schadenfreude speaking X)

Well it can be low-key fun, not gonna lie xD Hunkering down in front of the fire for warmth and using flashlights, candles, and good old fashion oil lamps to get around while waiting it out.
Yeah, I just posted it c:
Ohh yes, them little shpees are so cute! Noob players in general are adorable, and I love adopting and helping them out when they're on my team. Sometimes I'll try to take it easy on them if they're on the enemy team because I feel bad
radiofictive [2019-11-01 12:50:48 +0000 UTC]
I'm sure Engie has the chemicals and tools you need to remove all that rust.Β Β I love the little eyes and the ghosts and all those spots of lighting! nowrestwellalready

JulieVeje In reply to radiofictive [2019-11-01 15:34:18 +0000 UTC]
Haha, if only! We could all use an Engie in our lives to fix all our troubles (and look cute at the same time <3).Β
Thank you! I hate and love those ghosts. They're fun, but I always get yikes'ed at the worst moment X)Β
