ItΒ΄s an really interesting piece of art!
Never heard of a story of the Lion and the unicorn.
The way the lion is attacking the unicorn is just like you see on discovery channel.
(what iΒ΄m meaning to say is that it looks really realistic)
Everything does, even the muscles of the unicorn.
It looks beautifull!

Hey, I know that poem, sort of!
"The lion and the unicorn were fighting for the crown..." etc, etc.
Beautiful painting, the unicorn's terror is very visible.

I love the muted color palette and the anatomy. The exaggerated horn and crown are very nice elements, as well. I'm impressed that you've used gauche so smoothly.

also love the way you blended western and eastern styles in the composition and the animals.

I love how you did the horses skin, giving it that pink around the mouth and nose. It looks very realistic and terrified, with an almost human look. The crown around the horn is a nice touch.
It's neat seeing this story that I liked as a kid done so realistically. Much more frightening, kind of shows how weird nursery rhymes are if taken seriously.

The lion and the unicorn were fighting for the crown...
We had to sing that song in elementry school. Gosh, that brings back memories.

Fantastic! You don't see unicorns made the prey that often.

Fan-freakin-tastic! I'm not sure what intelligent comment is going to follow that.
I do love it--the unicorn especially. The way you've rendered form is realistic but illustrative and feels like a story book drawing. Granted, not your average little kiddle story book.

I was staring at this and thought "aw I bet it's super popular" and then I look at the favorites! O_O
This deserves so much more attention than it gets. What a treat to see traditional medium done so well. This has an almost Chinese feel to it, but is a lot more sophisticated. The movement and poses are captures so perfectly. Very interesting how the Unicorn's and the Lion's legs sort of fade away into mist.
Incredible. <3

You never fail to amaze... so realistic, and yet it always has that zombie surrealism about it <3

Out of the four you uploaded, I have to favorite this one, I've seen so many depictions of the lion and the unicorn [especially as it's a British icon] and this is definately an individual and original depiction.
Beautiful work julip I love seeing your ever expanding horizons with art -3-
