Description
Distressed AngelSide Note: This is the first vector I have ever done, period. I just read a book on illustrator and figured I would try out what I learned. It was pretty fun and I look forward to doing many more.

That's cool, though in my opinion doing vectors it's too easy that's why i'm always end up doing pretty nasty raster images xD

There is truth in your words, whenever I see a very well done hand drawn image I would agree that it impresses me considerably more than a vector. Sadly, I suck at drawing...

Oh that's totally fine if you love doing vectors, it just doesn't entertain me that much And i suck and drawing too, just love doing it

Pretty good for a first vector. Did you use ellipses for the eyes or bezier curves?

I used ellipses and modified some vectors slightly to make it sit right.

Just wondering. Some people use curves for eyes, which is a big no-no. Ellipses are always better

Good to know, I'll continue using them for that! The one thing the illustrator lessons really underscored was using shapes and pathfinder to build shapes while avoiding excessive use of curves and the pencil/pen tool. It's a pretty sweet program, wish I learned it years ago.... ugh

Yeah, if you look in my scrapbook I took a screenshot of the process of making a pony's eye. Quite hilarious really. One thing though: CLIPPING MASKS! Makes things so much easier

Yeah totally! I got to use a couple clipping masks in this vector, they're pretty sweet. I'm going to spend the next while making "parts", various things like hair, eyes, bodies, brows, ears...etc and basically build an object store so I can just slap the parts together to make stuff up. I can see using clipping masks extensively when piecing stuff together in that fashion.
